Hi,
I don't lead a highrisk lifesyle. I have always had protected sex (condom) and I have had three partners unprotected. The first was a mistake, the second time was with my boyfriend and now the third time is with a new boyfriend. I am really scared of getting HIV and after we had unprotected sex I got really scared. I just got tested a month before but I am worried he might have AIDS. He doesn't live a high risk lifestyle and he told me he is clean but I don't know who he has slept with in the past and yesterday he got the flu... am I being paranoid? Is AIDS really easy to get because I am scared.

Also, would or has anybody here take their boyfriend/girlfriend for an AIDS test before they had unprotected sex? I know it is recommended but it is kind of awkward to ask and I don't know what to do. I don't know if Im being paranoid or not.

Well, i think that nobody is answering to your question. Well, i'm going trough the same thing. I slept with 3 guys (boyfriends) in my life. I know that one of them (the one who i'm dating now) is HIV negative cause he got tested on april. I had a blood test on april too. The problem now is that i got a normal blood test, not an hiv test, and i thought it was the same but it isn't. I realized that the las weekend, so i got crazy and very very worried because one of the guys who i slept with was a jerk and he cheated on me. Besides, i dont know anything about his past. So i'm very very scared and i completely understand you. You are not paranoid!!! Or maybe i'm paranoid just like you. Everybody is scared about this subject. But you have to know something, even if your boyfriend gets tested and it's negative, you are still in risk because of the "window period" (search about that on yahoo or google). Well, i got tested today and my results will be ready in the next few days. I pray all the time and I have hope everything is ok. I can't stop crying cuz i'm really scared, but i know that the hiv test is the ONLY way to know if someone is infected. HIV has early symptoms always, the flu as you said. You should get tested. If I did it, everybody can!!! Don't be scared, because sooner or later you will know. It's better if you know it sooner.

Once you decide you are in a deep committed relationship and are thinking of having unprotected sex with your partner, you should be at the level where you should have absolutely no qualms about asking him to do an HIV test. Offer to get one done yourself, make it a date, LOL! I asked my boyfriend (5yrs now) to get an HIV test done after about the 3rd month of dating. It was either that or we were never going to have unprotected sex. He got it done, no problems and since I had a husband who had cheated on me prior to this relationship, I went and got one done for my own peace of mind. I think everyone should be asking for HIV testing, crimminal record and credit rating, but hey... that's just me, LOL!

You take risks everytime you have sex with someone who has had sex with someone else. The best way to prevent it is abstinence, the second best way is condoms and know your partner's health history.

God gave us all protection and a cure for aids, its called morality, and abstinence, if you practice this you will no longer have a reason to fear hiv

You should have never had unprotected sex. You knew better, but you let yourself do it anyway. I hope you dont get it, or have it. I wish you the best of luck.
