The department I am applying to does not have standard application forms. I have to send my resume along with a coverletter as my application, but I have no idea what sorts of things they would want to see in this letter. I have written many letters for office jobs and recreation positions, but I imagine this letter will not look much like any of those. Please help!

Ignore the response from Bubba Jr. he is mad because I told him that he would not be voted President as he stated he is anti-gay and holds Mexicans' in low regard.

Enclose a resume, along with filling out any pre-printed paperwork they hand you when you apply. Your letter would go something like this:

Dear Mr. or Mrs. Administrative Officer,

My name is _________________. I am applying to the Police Department with regard to the job opening you posted in the Cincinnati Review. The listing said it was Officer I, Level I.
As my resume and the information I listed in your application show, I am well qualified to do this job. I have taken X,Y and Z class's in college, which taught me much about the procedures in your department. I also worked for a short time which attending high school, as an ex tern with the local police department where I was living.
Please let me know when I could come in to discuss this opening with you personally. I will call you in a couple of days.

Sincerely yours,

You

The most important thing to do is follow-up! The squeaky wheel gets the grease! Call them in a couple of days and say, "hi, this is Sandra S., and I was hoping to speak to Mr. _____. If you get to him, say, "I was just getting back to you to let you know of my interest in the job I applied for." Be excited and available, and you'll be surprised how much further you'l get than simply sending your materials and waiting for them to call you back.

I checked her answers and nowhere does she insult blacks or people with disabilities! She simply stated that the guy wouldn't be elected president b/c of his racist views against Mexicans and his bigoted anti-gay statements. What a liar, he should be banned from Yahoo Answers right away!

I can tell you what, you will never be hired with the lack of respect for others that you have, you insult rednecks, people with disabilites and black people in your answers. You really think they would hire a bigot like you?
