I was reciently diagnosed with HPV by a pap smear. I am schedualed for a colposcopy in Dec. I am having a clear discharge, redness and itching. I am very irritated. I have no warts that I can see yet. The doctors thought that I was having an allergic reaction to a yeast infection cream but I was given a shot for that and the redness cleared up for a few days and now is back. It is not unbearable pain but it is uncomfortable. I was just wondering if anyone else has had these symptoms and if there is anything I can do to alleviate my discomfort till Dec. Everywhere you read it says no symptoms but I did find these symptoms listed on Yahoo health. Could this mean I am about to have an outbreak of warts? Also if you have had these symptoms did they eventually go away? THANKS

Please answer this question if you have some advice.....I have been to the doctors 3 diffferent ones in fact. I am asking here because I wondered if anyone has had these symptoms. I am out of the country and can't afford to keep going to the doctor. I was hoping that someone had had these symptoms and would be able to tell me something that I can do to help eze the discomfort now! Please do not answer and tell me to go to the doctor or give me a web site explaining about HPV I have read it all trust me. I did this to trying to find someone who had a similar situation. Your pap test shows you have HPV on the cervix. I have experienced a discharge due to Vaginal HPV. My irritation of the vulva is due to high risk HPV of the vulva. I have never had a wart.
The irritation redness and itching of the vulva could be due to high risk HPV of the vulva. High risk HPV does not generally manifest as a wart. Allergic reactions of the vulva can be common but VIN can also show as redness and does itch like crazy.
A colposcopy is not a treatment it is a diagnostic tool to take a better look at the cervix. A biopsy of the cervix may be taken and some doctors may also do a freezing of the cervix. Here in the states generally treatments are done after the colposcopy and the results of the biopsy. Your irritation is of the vulva and is probably not associated with the HPV infection of the cervix. A biopsy maybe in order to diagnosis what is causing the irritation?
If the irritation is due to HPV I do not recommend the use of cortizone.
Epsom or Aveeno Baths may help the discomfort but does not treat the cause of the irritation.

HPV is human papiloma virus. There are many different strains of this virus. Some will give you symptoms, and some won't give any symptoms. It's good that your's did have symptoms, or else you would have never known about it. Some strains can cause cervical cancer, while other won't cause the cancer. I used to know more about this, because I did a report on HPV for my AP Biology class. Go to this site for more info:

It should have information on all the different strains of HPV. Next time you go to the doctor, ask him which specific strain of HPV you have. You can then use that to find out what kind of symptoms you will have later on, and if you will get cancer or not. Did you even know that it can cause cervical cancer?

Yes i have had this also,about 8 years ago,I didnt have the symtoms your describing, but Im sure its different for every one. I did have the warts though and Thank God the doc gave me a cream and they went away never to return.There are many different strains of this,some have no symptoms some do.Good that you are under a doctors care,You will be okay just know that alright you hang in there and see this treatment through to the end Good luck. last thing since HpV is so undetectible be sure to use protection when having sex many people have this and dont even know it.

Well I have HPV and I had the strain that can lead to cervical cancer..there are a LOT of strains. Let them do the colposcopy and tell you what strain you have. It is pretty uncommon for the DR. to not tell you if you have genital warts..she would have been able to see them..Most commons strains of it are the cervical cancer strains. My guess with the redness and burning is that your yeast infection is back or really never went away. Sometimes you need to do the medication over again to get rid of it or start a new one. I would call your Dr. back and let them know that you are having these problems again. Hopefully your symptoms will get better. I completely understand them!!! Good Luck!

I too have HPV but I've never had any redness or burning associated with it. I'm not sure what to tell you about how to alleviate the pain.

HPV is a virus with many strains. did they tell you you had the one that causes warts? You need to call your doctor, ask many questions and find out what is causing the rash. tell them its back
