Only if they don't see you spray them with the bottle. Because if they see you spray them, then they know not to do this act while you are in the room. But if they don't see you spray them, then they wont know where the water came from and then they wont do this bad act at all. It will take awhile and may seem cruel, but it really does work and is by far the easiest/cheapest way to teach them.

Last year my beautiful Manx cat Theodore went out for the evening and never came back. I love cats and the house didn't feel the same without one, so I picked up Lola from a rescue centre. She was very frightened and would pee all over the house. I found Cat Spraying No More on the internet and the techniques worked almost immediately. I haven't had a problem with Lola since. Amazing!

Can't stop your cat peeing in the house? Then worry no more...

I use this method from time to time. But I didn't know that you weren't supposed to let them see you do it. Which could be why it didn't really break any bad habits.

But they do know that "mommy's not kidding" when the spray bottle comes out. It's comical to see the looks on their faces.

I used it last night and for the first time it didn't work. One our cats was begging for table scraps, which is a big no-no. I squirted him on the butt and he didn't even budge. Then again, the chicken I made for dinner was pretty good. The little bugger had the nerve to jump on my lap and start licking my fingers!!

LOL! That's what I love about my kitties, always surprising.

It will make the pause. All I have to do now is pick up the water bottle and shake it, and my boy cat stops what he's doing. I don't think it breaks their habits - he still gets up on the table - but the water bottle does make him get down.

I have no idea if this would work to break a cat of bad habits. However I do know something about this type of behavior modification.

I used this very same technique on my brother-in-law. It didn't change his bad habits. It just gave him a skin condition.

yes it does. it doesn't hurt (just be sure not to hit the eyes) and be consistent .in no time flat your cat will stop doing whatever habit that is unacceptable to you. one spray will do each time the cat repeats the habit. no need to get carried away.LOL
good luck.

Yup and by adding a little lemon juice when they go to clean away the water it's like double punishment. they get the point two times quicker this way.

Yes, but its important that they not know that you are doing the spraying. They will just think its a consequence of what they did.
