I mean in-person and not online.

Were you afraid of their mere presence?

What impression did they leave you with if had a chance to speak to them?

Would you judge Islam by the way that individual Muslim behaved with you?

Peace and Love everyone.

I meet them almost everyday. Some of them are my friends.

They are really nice, not scary at all.

Being a Muslim doesn't mean, he or she is an alien. They're just normal people like us. Kind and sweet.

Even if some do seem a bit scary sometimes, they are all soft and gentle in the inside.

No. I wouldn't judge it like that. Every individual Muslim is different from the other even is they follow the same religion. They would behave differently.

The Muslims that I've met has all been nice persons. We worked together and there were never any issues about religion. If I were to judge Islam on how those Muslims threated me then I would say that Islam is a very nice, warm and friendly religion. Now, I don't you can judge anything just by meeting a few and making them represent a whole. There are good and bad people in every bunch.

Most days when I'm in the East End of London I meet a Muslim or several.

I only once got called a fu**ing white bast**d by a gang of Muslim youths shortly after the 9-11 thing and when I walked over to them (a bit foolhardy) they said they were only joking!!!...well.

I have had conversations with a young Imam I met at the bus stop he was originally from Bangladesh...he told me he hated his wife she nagged him constantly and theirs was an arranged marriage, he said hated living in England...it was the middle of winter and he found it too cold and resented wearing heavy woolens and an overcoat over his traditional garb..he said he liked my fleece jacket very much... I think he was having a difficult time in a strange country, he said Bangladesh was a beautiful place and he said I should visit there one day.

Most Muslim's I have met are very polite and nice people, it is the religion that can make some of these otherwise good people do crazy and evil things, there will always be good and evil people in all walks of life but only religion can make good people do evil things, the Muslim religion is no different to any other religion in that respect...the fundamentalist element cause trouble and give everyone else a bad name.

i have...several. there were a few in my school and college that i was on friendly terms with. there's nothing that makes them stand out, they just come across as normal people with normal problems. if it weren't for the different names, most people will not even guess what their religion is.

but i have to say...and with no intention of hurting any body's feelings or being offensive that given the current scenario, and global terrorism, Islam is being seen as a religion of hatred. And you can't blame the scared and terrified people of accusing your religion, as most of the terrible things happening are unfortunately claimed to be done in the name of the religion.

peace and love....

Yes, I have met several. One who left Islam for Christianity will never be able to see family living abroad again. The hostility and violence against those who convert to Christianity (or other faiths), is just too great. The danger to their lives is not comprehensible to most Americans.

Some Muslims I have met seem very kind and ethical, and in many ways admirable. It is the Islamic religion itself that leads to corruption, in my view, systematically. I view Islam as a fascist-styled system. And the imposition of sharia on those who don't believe as they do (on former Muslims who choose to convert to another faith), in my opinion, makes Islam generally incompatible with democracy.

That's my experience.

Hoping the best for you...

I've dated Muslims (I'm atheist), and one of my children's doctors was Muslim (current Dr.is Buddhist).

I wasn't at all afraid of them, they left me with no bad impressions, and I would not judge Islam by the actions of the Muslims I have known.

Edit: American

I ran into some on a flight from New York to Pittsburgh back in 1989, and I felt I was receiving the most hateful thoughts from them. The looks in their eyes was indescribable, they were so intensely hateful!!
I just gave them no reason to feel like they were intimidating me by giving them the same look. That appeared to have no effect. I honestly got the feeling that they were possessed by demons, and I am positive that that was exactly the case!!! I remembered all of the hi-jackings of planes that the Muslims had done, and I was mentally prepared to try and take both of them out if they tried to do anything on that flight!!!

Yes, I lived in Dubai with an Arab family. I was not afraid of them, in fact, I felt safer there than in USA where crime is high. They are hospitable people with a good sense of humor and close-knit families. If you travel a bit, you will find that people around the world are more alike than different.

I have had Black friends who are muslim. One honored me
by presenting me with a Quran, which I read many years ago.
I of course see many muslims while out and about, and am
always respectful and pleasant with anyone I meet.
