i know they closed my old factory i worked for because they hired illegals but hadn't heard anything since. On the news this morning they said they are going to increase their effort. :-)

They have. In my county and surrounding area they are currently processing over 1,000 illegal immigrants for deportation. All in all I suppose 1,000 isn't that many in comparison to the over-all population but it sure is better than nothing.

As far as cracking down on employers? I dunno...I haven't read about that yet.

While I believe in offering freedom for all people, I do have problems when others come from another country and take away jobs from those who are actually born here.
The only way people in leadership, or in hierarchy in this country seem to actually listen is when it involves the 'almighty dollar.' It is unfortunate. I believe there are too many greedy people\companies who hire dirt cheap labor in order to make a fast buck! Those who are willing to work for the "dirt cheap" wages are to be empathized with. Illegals are, for the most part, only coming to America because they want to have food and shelter for their families. Some come here in order to receive some kind of relief from their own countries' political practices. Of course, there are always that few who would come here, take advantage of our country, and leave with the $$$ in their pockets to live a very lucrative life in their own country.
That is the type who tick me off... bc they are also being greedy.
So, in answer to your question, (grin) it is one of the only ways to at least slow down the huge amount of illegals coming into America. If an employer is fined, instead of the employee, it will make a bigger impact.

if our government would do more to stop them from coming in to usa then the employers would have more jobs for the american people. the illegals would not be here for them to hire. i've heard that illeagals make more money than the americans do.an american doesn't have a chance in their own country anymore. all of our jobs are being shut down or moved to other countries. the good jobs anyways.if i worked in the government i would be trying to find out why the illegal immigrants are all coming to our country. if it is because thier government is not providing for their people then i think that their government should be replaced by the illegal immigrants that are entering the usa illegally. thats my opinion.

Section 274 felonies under the federal Immigration and Nationality Act, INA 274A(a)(1)(A):

A person (including a group of persons, business, organization, or local government) commits a federal felony when she or he:

* assists an alien s/he should reasonably know is illegally in the U.S. or who lacks employment authorization, by transporting, sheltering, or assisting him or her to obtain employment, or

* encourages that alien to remain in the U.S. by referring him or her to an employer or by acting as employer or agent for an employer in any way, or

* knowingly assists illegal aliens due to personal convictions.

We have laws already on the books to stop this problem, they need to be enforced with zero tolerance.
We as Americans need to demand that our current laws be enforced to the letter of the law.

Utah's Governor, Huntsman and the Attorney General, Shurtleff seem to have some kind of love affair with the powers that be in Mexico.

I'm thinking if the laws are tightened up all around the country, and Congress follows up with deportation....they will have to send troops into Utah and California to make the government officials comply....

WE THE PEOPLE need to get into the faces of these idiots...and make them squirm until they understand how it will be. Huntsman...a son of a wealthy wealthy man and someone who looks like a skinny "ken" doll clone, has business interest in Mexico.

Shurtleff has political aspirations that include Mexico...who knows what THAT could be but it was rumored that he "wept with joy" upon meeting Vicente Fox.

Sickening........

no, not here in Chicago. but dam can u imagine? if the fine for hiring an illegal alien is about 25,000 for each person. i think lots of businesses would be going bankrupt! and in someway that will hurt economy, because sadly theres LOTS of people that employ "illegals"

the illegals are mostly the ones rebuilding in new orleans. they do the work while others complain. it's sad but true. there are plenty of jobs here yet the evacuees refuse to work. employers are finding it hard to run companies without adequate labor. it's a double edged sword

I sure hope so Dave! Something needs to be done. Our streets need to be wiped out of gangsters, teen age mothers, welfare beggars, taggers, rapists, molesters and murderers in which weren't supposed to be here in the first place! I hope so.... : /
