Go to an STI clinic, most of them have drop in clinics so you don't have to make an appointment. You don't have to give your real name (just make one up you'll be able to remember) and they won't pass any information back to your GP.

To me it sounds like herpes (especially if they really hurt), but you should get them looked at properly.

FInd your nearest STI clinic here:

(you can also look up symptoms of lots of STIs here)

What do you mean festering? Are they oozing/itchy/burning/red? Have you eaten anything you're allergic too?

Don't be too shy about going to the doc. As a physician myself, most often times we'll have seen it before or have seen stuff much much worse (remember we took anatomy class dissecting cadavers)

Go to the doctor (a dermatologist if you want proper care) and they prescribe something for you.

(BTW, I checked yuor profile. Perhaps you should change your sheets more than twice a year as a matter of hygeine)

Hi Crispy: I think the cause of these festering sores are probably down to your other problem of sleeping on filthy sheets. Suggest you take note of the replies you received from your other question and start washing your bed sheets more than twice a year. Oh and remember to wash your sheets on a hot wash!

You should really go to the doctor, but if you find that too hard, start off by ringing NHS direct on 0845 46 47 and asking them for advice. They also have a website www.nhsdirect.nhs.uk

Your local chemist may also be able to help.

However, both will probably recommend that you see a doctor. I wouldn't like to guess what it is you have as I may be wrong, but I'd say they will not go away easily, and if they do go away, they will probably recur, especially without appropriate treatment.

If this is a serious question , if its just sore use some sudo cream, its great stuff. Or it could be a fungal infection normally bought on by heat, get some caniston cream from chemist, its used for women and thrush but can be used for this too.
Also wash and use some talc powder to dry area, obviously not internally.

Well you should go to the doctor. But I read your profile and if it's true you only change your bedsheets twice a year...that's where your problem might be. You might have bedbugs or something. Ewww!

How often do you change your bed sheets? Crispy changes his twice a year whether they need it or not?

No, but only if they are infected. You really should go the docs cause you may need anti biotics to help them heal.

You could try cleaning them with a mild disinfectant watered down so it's doesn't sting too much? Then let plenty of air get to them too.

you MUST go to the doctor Crispy. You will need something prescription-strength to clear that up. If you're too embarassed to go to your GP, go to your nearest walk-in centre and wait for someone there to see to you (chances are you'll never have to see them again). Take money for your prescription, cos they will make you pay for it there and then (they'll have their own subsidised pharmacy so won't give you a prescription to take to Boots).

Take a good book to read, and comestibles, you may be in for a long wait. Check out the NHS website (www.nhs.uk) to "find your nearest" using your postcode.

Much love xx

If you can't face your doctor - go to a GUM/Special Clinic - they can set your mind at rest and treat them whatever they are. They often see things that are not STIs, and as they deal with these "bits" all the time there should be no embarassment.
