extreme? ill you give an example, in real life, your a normal, real nice, outgoing guy but when you get drunk, you turn vicious and out of your regular range. or another example, you are the shy type, but kind and gentle with people, when you get drunk, you are completely open and not scared and your even nicer and kinder than usual.

so im referring to this questoin as being a positive or negative response, and as i asked before, is it TRUE that a persons' real personality shows up like that when they are drunk? is it their hidden personality that is appearing? or is just the alcohol that MAKES you be someone you really arent inside?

While it is true that alcohol can lower inhibitions and so allow personality traits to appear that perhaps a person is too shy to show normally. However, alcohol is also a depressant and is known to cause inability to think clearly. It causes poor judgement and a loss of feeling of accountability. So, there you have it - a definete maybe. In some, it is called courage in a bottle. To others, it turns them into real jerks. I guess it depends on the person. Me, personally - I wouldn't want to hang around someone who has to drink to "get real". Coming from a family of alcoholics - I can tell you that they are much better sober.

No that is Not true. For some people however it breaks down insecurtities they might have when not intoxicated, Ie the shy person now becomes more out going.. so one could infere that Alcohol helps you to become more of the person you wish you could be, but this is just one example.. this is not the case with every person. What alcohol actually does is intensify all of your emotions, and releases any inhibitions you have when you are sober. You are not able to process all of your actions before you go through with them. .. for example. You are drunk and you are having an arguement... you might punch someone in the face for simply disagreeing with you, in your sober state, you would think this through, and though you might not like the person, you would think better of hitting them... this is a normal process.. but when you are drunk you skip over the process in which you realize that violence is not the answer.. this is just one example.. but you see the point, Alcohol does not make you who you "really are" what it does is allow you to think and behave abnormally due to lack of a a more advanced thought process because of the alcohol.
so if you do drink, and want to keep your head clear and your decisions smart... drink responsibly and know your limit!!!!!! mine is two drinks! hahaha

I don't think that is necessarily true. The first thing that is impaired is judgment. Then it seems that there is a bladder problem since all alcohols are a diuretic. Balance is usually the last thing to go. Most alcoholics think that they are not drunk when most sober people around them realize that they are. ((This is an example of poor judgment)) Did you ever notice that people that are drinking crank the music up and talk very loud. That is due to the effect that alcohol has on hearing.

Yes it is true a bit of alcohol makes you lose your inhibitions, hence the nice shy person is still nice, just more confident.
and the less nice person is more likely to become abusive.
alcohism is different though - if you spend too much time under the influence your natural personality becomes distorted and you get a depressed/ angry drunk.
It's a shame when it happens to the shy person, who believes it is still dutch courage when it has gone on too long.

hello
Alcohol (Ethanol used in Vodka Etc..) gives affect on many mechanisems in the body and in the brain 'cause of the 'OH' groups on its molecule.

this attached to receptors and 'caused the feeling of been drunk.

in that feeling you usually feel very free,,, so in one way , you feel free enough to do things that you would like to do and you wouldnt when you not drnk since you "free" enough. and it might show parts of you that you wont show as non drunk

how ever , you're true personality wont let you show this disiers wich means , you actually shoing the NOT real you when you drunk in a way., just the "extream" person that inside you. :)

I think you just forget about your inhibitions and you would be less self-conscious. This happens when you're just tipsy.. not completely wasted.

And it depends, some people are happy drunks.. some are angry drunks.. some are violent!

Not necessarily. You just don't care as much about the social rules when you're drunk. Those rules, however, do belong to your personality as well.
