No-one told you that saliva is a complete antibacterial...your mouth is a cesspool of very dangerous germs and a human bite is a serious matter. People that consume a lot of sweets harbor even more bacteria and those bacteria cause tooth decay. Any infection is the result of the body being unable to produce enough resistance to ward off various pathogens.

saliva is not antibacterial. in fact, there are over 200 known species of bacteria in your mouth right now. some are bad, some essential for digestion, and most just kind of hang out.

The saliva affects only very specific bacteria. Studies show that their anti-bacterial effect is most effective against some of the bacilli and cocci types in water and air. But this doesn't mean all bacteria of them either...

Infact, they are least effective on the bacteria that are usually found in the mouth..!!

Further toothaches are rarely caused by bacteria.

it is defnitely antibacterial, and most of the time it protects ur teeth aswell gums , tooth decay,and gum infection starts and subsequently pain results by over coming saliva factor,when resistant bacterias takes upper hand they cause distruction,topical saliva can`t penetrate and destroy these microbes,

Saliva cannot neutralize all the bacteria in our mouths. You're supposed to brush, floss, and visit your dentist regularly to prevent teeth and gum problems.

acid. The human mouth is one of the nastiest places on your body. It is NOT anti-bacterial. Why do you think people get ulcers? The acid in saliva and the digestive tract are very acidic.

A human bite is very dirty, nothing to mess with. I've seen terrible infections just 24 hrs after the bite.

i never heard of that. saliva is one of the biggest germs i think. i know if you feed a baby from a baby food jar and save whats left for later that the food turns slimy.

as those anti bacterial organisms were being killed by the bacteria present in those food items and you will get tooth aches and all others
