Are you sure he didnt mean methadone?

methadone is an opiate used to treat heroin addicts.....however it has to be used in a controlled way, as it is also addictive itself.

Methanol is a (poisonous) simple form of alcohol. It can be used as a fuel, and some cars can run on it..........maybe it's another way of describing a 'petrol head'.

Are you sure your friend was right about methanol? And s/he doesn't mean meth(amphetamine) addict?

Methanol is an alcohol. It's known as a wood alcohol and is different from the alcohol in beer, wine, and spirits. If a human drinks methanol, he or she will have symptoms including visual disturbances, blindness, convulsions, coma, and possibly death.

I don't honestly think anyone could get addicted to methanol.
