My ideas? Try to do 200 minutes of cardio a week. Remember fat does not turn into muscle, so you need to lose your fat while putting on muscle. Work hard, but don't over 60 minutes at a time. Do planks and other abs exercises on alternate days.
On training days, do 5-10 minutes of cardio to warm up, then do your weight training. Do 30 to 60 minutes more of cardio, then go home.
The best time to eat is just after your workout within an hour when your metabolism is raging. For your muscles, incorporate some isolated soy protein or whey protein. Whey is more potent but the soy tastes better!
Don't look at your scale as the be all and end all, but get a measuring tape to check your progress, and that will show more tangible results.
Read magazines like Shape, Womens Fitness, Fitness, etc to get tips and to stay motivated.
Good luck and stick at it. This plan has lost me 20 lbs in 12 weeks so far, just go for it!

This phenomenon is called the "Freshman 15" it happens to a lot of people their freshman year of college. It could be stress or any number of things. Try stocking your room with healthy snacks. You can also get non-fat, low calorie chocolate and thigs like that.

Good for you that you recognize it early.
College is a very different schedule than anything you had before.
Changes in sleeping patterns almost always result in desire for sweets, etc.
Make sure you get enough real sleep and establish a new pattern of regular hard exercise.
In college I ran 2 miles before dinner each night(took less than 45 minutes)
Good Luck.

The way to kill a craving is to stop feeding it. You are in control of your body, so you tell your body what it can have and what it can't ... not vice versa.
Oh, try these, they taste so good... Nutrilite Protein Bars; they come in the yummiest flavours like chocolate fudge, caramel vanilla, and strawberry creme... low on carbs, low on fat, sugar free (but using 100% natural sweeteners), high on protein. I eat them every time my stomach calls--I'm never hungry and I don't get fat.
The key to never being hungry is to have proper nutrition in your meals. What do you eat at mealtimes? You don't skip breakfast and dinner, do you? For a truly filling meal, reduce starch (potato, pasta, bread, rice), eat volumes of fruits and vegetables, and get your carbs from fibre-rich "brown" and "whole grain" products. If you're not vegetarian, have one to two servings of white meat and fish per day. Drink milk, and take nutritional supplements (go to http://www.nutrilite.com to find out why).
That's what I do and I'm rarely hungry. But when I really need to eat something in between, I take a protein bar and a piece of fruit. I swear, protein bars taste better than anything out in the market there but it's something that actually does your body good.
Go to http://www.quixtar.com to purchase if you're in N. America, otherwise go to my profile to email me and i'll find out for you how you can get it in next to no time.

you're proabably experiencing some form of stress due to college or some other matter concerning it. I suggest you isolate and then solve that problem either with other activities or just diet. Lol, don't worry. It's cliche but the inner beauty is what counts.

You might look into the hoodia gordonii as an appetite suppressant. It tricks the mind into thinking that you aren't hungry.
Something to think about.
If I can be of further assistance, let me know.
