When the clock strikes midnight it signals that the 60th minute of the final hour has ended, heralding the start of a new day. My understanding, however, is that it's not midnight until the twelfth chime has been struck (note that when it's New Year, we don't celebrate until the final chime has been struck). No midnight is the start of a new day. So if the date was sept. 1 and you were born at midnight your bday would be sept. 2 bcauz there is 24hrs in a day and on midnight it starts the next 24hrs so your bday can only be one day. Hello???? The next day!
