A RFI (Radio Frequency Interference) or EMI (Electromagnetic Interference) Filter is generally used in electronic equipments to protect them from harmful interference of radio waves (from nearby transmitters, welding equipments, switching power supplies of other equipments etc).
Radio Frequency Interference generally comes via the power supply lines which acts as giant antenna. Hence RFI / EMI Filters are normally inserted in series with the input power supply.
They also serve a dual purpose - any RFI / EMI generated by the equipment is also not fed back to the line as it gets attenuated in the filter.
One important note: Any RFI / EMI filtering is useless if the equipment is not grounded or if the EARTH terminal is left unconnected!

The only answer I know of is "Radio Frequency Interference" It's usually a part fitted to a device to stop it from interfering with TVs and radios
