As we cant prove things abt religion scientifically or at least logically right. I sorta want to find out what it is exactly about religion that gives people such peace of mind. Can we prove some things abt humans and their spiritual needs like how humans behave, how their minds work, things like that?

Jesus gives the answer at Matthew 5:3. He said: "Happy are those conscious of their spiritual need....."

Those who are "conscious of their spiritual need" are happy when they do something about it. That is, take in accurate knowlege about spiritual matters in the Bible and then act in harmony with what they learn.

People who follow Bible principles are not always the most popular among others in this world, yet they are happy because they have the deep sense of satisfaction of doing what their Creator wants them to do. In fact Jesus said that such people would be hated. (John 15:18,19) But despite being hated and persecuted, those who do God's will are happy. Very happy.

We were created with the desire in us to worship God, so when a person does so, it naturally gives them a sense of satisfaction.

Also, people who do what is good, feel good about themselves. Making someone happy, makes them happy. Doing what is right, is a good thing, thus it produces positive good feelings and thoughts and makes a person feel peace, but doing wicked things does the opposite of peace, it eats a person away inside, if they continue in their wicked course/ways it makes them worse, they get more negative and thus cannot truly be happy inside.

The best reason why humans who are conscious of their spiritual needs and act on their consciousness by learning about their Creator in the Bible, is that they develop a relationship with Him. Jehovah God as the most high in the universe(Psalm 83:18), is also the most powerful and being able to pray to someone higher than all humans, who created us, who understands us best makes us feel heard, our feelings get validated, there is the One whom we can trust and tell our most secret things to, who will never betray us, unlike humans. That makes people happy.

It may give some people peace of mind but religion does not give the world peace!! The main problem as I see it is that you belong to a "club" and when you "belong" to a club or organization, you think that your "club" is the best! Therein lies one of the big problems in my view. It would appear that most of the worlds conflicts have been around religious issues. The WW2 ended up being about the Jew's so I'm afraid I have become very cynical about religion. I now live in Thailand, which is about 97% Buddhist and I have to say that I'm very impressed with their dedication to their faith. I'm learning more about their thinking and I like what I hear! Time will tell if my "cynicism" diminishes!
I believe there is some research that has been conducted about "spiritual requirements" but I cannot advise where to find, except of course the net! My own view has always been that YOU can control your inner thought process's. God is within you as a sort of mindset. You do not have to belong to a religion to have this inner strength, it is within us all. It's just that some people are not too motivated to look within and find an easier rout by belonging to a religion (club).

Buddhism has no conflict with science.

It all centers around one simple idea: how you act effects your mind. Then it's all about training your mind. Just like an athlete.

That's it.

Now, is there 'scientific' proof for this? I don't know. Most people I would think would call it common sense, but since a 'religion' (or not 'their' religion) is saying it maybe people won't agree.

It is a scientific fact that someone who has practiced meditation for a long time that their brains produce an enormous amount of alpha waves.

Not all tings need scientific evidence to be proved... Consider this.
About 30% of the Bible's contents concern prophecy - foretelling the future.
There are 371 predictions/prophecies in the Old Testament about the Messiah – all written at least 600-800 years before Jesus lived and most of which were fulfilled by Jesus! How is this possible without God’s intervention?
We have to admit to ourselves too, that if Jesus was real, if He was who He claimed to be, then we have to pretty darn stupid not to believe in Him and accept His promised gift of everlasting life through Him dying on the cross for us. It sounds all hocus-pocus, airy-fairy stuff, but this God of ours is Sovereign, all-powerful, all capable and all consuming. How can we, as mere mortals, even begin to understand and grasp the enormity of GOD? Yet, He has provided for us a way, within our mortal scope of intelligence and understanding, that we can understand and believe – His Living Word.
He has warned us personally throughout His Word of the consequences of our pride and skepticism: if we reject His awesome promise of salvation through His Son, if we reject His love, grace and power, we will burn in Hell forever, with much “wailing and gnashing of teeth, eternal suffering, travail and torment” – this is the Bible’s description of hell.

Matthew 13: 37 He answered, "The one who sowed the good seed is the Son of Man. 38 The field is the world, and the good seed stands for the sons of the kingdom. The weeds are the sons of the evil one, 39 and the enemy who sows them is the devil. The harvest is the end of the age, and the harvesters are angels. 40 "As the weeds are pulled up and burned in the fire, so it will be at the end of the age. 41 The Son of Man will send out his angels, and they will weed out of his kingdom everything that causes sin and all who do evil. 42 They will throw them into the fiery furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. 43 Then the righteous will shine like the sun in the kingdom of their Father. He who has ears, let him hear.

For what its worth, UCLA did a study on people reading the Bible
and other positive works a short while back.
They found that the brain releases chemicals that make you feel
good when you read positive or comforting works including prayer.
Was it Marx that said "Religion is the opiate of the people"?
I Corinthians 13;8a, Love never fails!!!!!

Some people are so desperate for a happy ending that they'll believe anything. The fact is that real life is terrifying and senseless and not everyone can cope with that. They want there to be a reason that busloads of school children explode or that missionaries die slowly of cancer, even if they will never be permitted to know the reason, they need to believe it's there.

I believe you're sort of born with it, you know, the idea that there's a God, and the need for a belief system to facilitate your relationship with God...

And once you build bridges, so to speak, with God, you reach the ultimate peace of mind.... peace of mind that you would not get if you go against that holy relationship, if you go against your own nature that is...
