Hello, I'm new in Brussels. Looking for a web site to guide me from point A to B using public transportation.

Question

I have found it very hard to find a Metro, a Tram or a bus station near a specific address.
I'm looking for a way that will guide me how to travel from point A to point B, telling what Metro, Tram or bus to take (something like HopStop.com).
I've found only on-line maps, but no public transportation help.
The official public transport web site is not easy to navigate.
If this solution could be in English, that would be perfect, but French will do as well.

I'm talking about Brussels, Belgium, right ?

http://www.delijn.be/reisinfo/ for the bus and tram. Sorry, all in Dutch...
Click on 'routeplanner'. Under 'tijdstip' (timing) you choose whether you want to leave (vertrekken) or arrive (aankomen). Then you fill in the time (day and hour). The dots underneath are 'to respect', 'aproximately', 'earliest connexion', 'last connexion'.
Under 'van - naar' (from - to) you fill in your point A and point B but only the cities! Meaning Brussels. You click on 'lijst gemeenten' then on 'B' and you choose 'Brussel Stad' (Brussels City). The dots underneath are whether you want to fill in your point A from an adress 'adres', a busstop 'halte', a trainstation 'nmbs-station', or an orientationpoint 'oriëntatiepunt'.
Click on 'OK' and then you can fill in your point A and point B.
If you chose adress you can fill in the streetname or choose it out of a list by clicking on 'stratenlijst', fill in the number behind 'nr' or you can select a crosspoint by clicking on 'kruispuntenlijst' (first the street name)
If you chose busstop 'halte', you choose the name out of the busstoplist 'lijst' but be carefull... streetnames and names of busstops don't always match!
In the squares you fill in the kind of transportation you'd like: bus, tram/premetro, train (trein), or subway (metro)
Next you make limitations (beperk in) in: travel time 'reistijd', times of changing transportation 'aantal overstappen' or walking distance 'loopafstand'.
Then you choose between '1 oplossing' meaning one solution or 'meerdere oplossingen' meaning more solutions.
Then you just click on 'zoeken' = search.

The public transport company of Brussels is the STIB (French name) or MIVB (Dutch name). They run most of the buses, and also the trams and the metro.
Then you have also the Flemish bus company De Lijn and the company of Wallonie: TEC

You have 2 mainlines (1 and 2). Line 1 goes from west to east and splits up in the west and the east of the city: 1A and 1B
Line 2 goes round the center (and follows meanly the 'little' ring).
Then you have also the pre-metro (it's a tram that rides underground) which goes from North to south.

And then you have also the trains. The train company NMBS (Dutch name) or SNCB (French name) is working on a network to the towns surrounding Brussel (Leuven, Mechelen, Aalst, Halle,...). In Brussels they also have a lot of stations, but the most important are Brussels North, Central and South (Midi). These are all connected to the rest of Belgium.

With a single ticket of the STIB you can ride for 1 hour, even if you switch to another bus, tram or metro. You even can use the train inside the Brussels area. You can also take an buscard for a period, a one-day card or a card for 10 rides. For the buscard you need. The other tickets you have to put them in the machine in the bus/tram or before entering the metro-station. The penalties for riding without a ticket are quit high...
