They keep going down into the floor and down into the earth, through the core and out the other side until they become the up escalator in another mall ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE EARTH SOMEWHERE IN CHINA.

They go down to hell, or up from hell, if it is an up scalator, the metal planks are to keep the demons down, so they won't escape, if they would escape. there would be a catastrophe, that's what happened in the ghostbusters movie, all the demons and ghosts escaped.
That's why the people who repair this things are so well payed, imagine having a demon kidnap you down, if yoy pay attention this repairmen, have special taser guns, design to paralize demons, so they won't escape when they lift the metal plank.
This is a fact!!!

you wouldn't believe me if i told you but...
one time i wasn't paying attention and got sucked down into this place that looked cool at first but let me tell you...looks are decieving...the next thing i knew i was being chased by gorillas wearing pantyhose trying to capture me for the evil scientist to do experiments on my brain...they had implanted the brain of a crustacean onto a micro chip and wanted to put it in my brain to see if i would act like a shrimp....i barely escaped with my life!!
so please ALWAYS pay attention and make sure your shoes are tied before you get on one of those hellish devices!!
