Hi there! first of all whoever it is that you need the diet for, I wish the person n the family loads of luck n success in battling cancer.

Diets are best planned keeping in mind individual needs, age of the patient and stage of treatment is also important....sometimes doctors and nutritionists may ask you to avoid some particular items too but since such details are not available to me I am giving a general idea of what patients undergoing chemotherapy should consume.

Remember to have a small snack or meal before your chemo session to give you the energy to handle it better...

1) Have a balanced diet which particularly includes proteins (meat, milk, egg, beans, legumes/pulses)

2) Have small but frequent meals as chemo causes nausea, vomitting and stomach discomfort so eating large meals can be uncomfortable and make the patient vommit.

3) Fried foods should be avoided as much as possible. low fat diet is usually recommended

4) Fluids should be consumed sufficiently....try to have fruit juices besides water.

5) Tomatoes are great in fighting cancer and Broccoli too( this one am not 100% sure of)....try including atleast tomatoes in ur meals.

6) even if the patient is unable to eat solid foods...liquid meals can be given in the form of milkshakes with fruits....soups & Stew.

As a nurse, I take care of people with different types of cancer on a daily basis. A dietician will be a good source for reccomendations, but unless there are restrictions caused by the type of cancer (for example, throat or tongue cancer making it difficult to safely swallow food, or a bowel cancer restricting elimination and consequently making it not safe to eat), we tell cancer patients to eat whatever appeals to them. I would encourage healthy food such as lean protein, whole grains, fruits and vegetables and avoid highly processed foods and junk foods for the best nutritional support to help you during chemotherapy, however, if one type of food is really appealing, go for it! You need nutrition to combat the cancer and heal your body. If nausea is a problem, tell your oncologist, because there are many excellent medications out there to prevent and treat nausea--it need not be a horrible side effect of chemotherapy. Good luck and I hope your chemotherapy is completely successful in eliminating the cancer.

Might get a detox herbal tea. avoid caffiene, nicotine, sugar, etc.Try to eliminate as much stress as possible, clear debts or whatever. Oh aloe vera has been said to stop cancer, you can buy it in gel caps & juice form. Good Luck-take care of yourself.
