Sometimes kids don't eat food because they tend to listen to their bodies better than adults. Maybe they aren't hungry when you think they should be. Maybe they had something to eat or drink before dinner which took away their appetite. Also, sometimes kids don't like the way certain foods smell or the texture of the food in their mouths-the way it feels on their tongues. Maybe they need to see you eat it first.

2 reasons
The first is that taste buds do not grow back, so the younger you are the better sense of taste you have. At 30 you my not be able to taste the onion in the soup, but at 5 you can.
The second reason is a control thing. One of the few things kids have control over is what they are willing to put in thier mouth.

some kids concentrate on playing than eating such that when they are given food little attention is paid to food.
some are just particular of the food to eat and if it`s not given to them then you think they dont eat otherwise they would have died of hunger.

Your question does not really make sense....
Sure kids eat food.
Babies don't eat, they just drink milk - their stomach is not yet able to deal with proper 'food'. But this stage is pretty short.
Some kids are pretty picky about what they eat, but they still eat...

A small child puts a lot of stuff in their mouth but will automatically reject anything overly bitter or sour. This is a protection against being poisoned by putting something toxic in their mouth.
