It is the night the the Holy Qur'an was brought down from the third heaven to the first heaven. It is also the night the Revelation of the Holy Qur'an commenced to the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), If Muslims worship God during that night, it is considered better than a thousand months of worship.

Because :
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
1- Verily, We have sent it (this Qur'an) down in the Night of Al-Qadr
2- And what will make you know what the Night of Al-Qadr is?
3- The Night of Al-Qadr is better than a thousand months (worshipping Allah in that night is better than worshipping Him a thousand months, i.e. 83 years an 4 months).
4- Therein descend the angels and the Ruh (Gabriel) be Allah's Permission with all decrees,
5- (All that night), there is peace (and goodness from Allah to His believing slaves) until the appearance of dawn.

Allaah, Most High, Says (what means):

"Indeed, We sent it [i.e. the Qur’an] down during the Night of Decree. And what can make you know what the Night of Decree is? The Night of Decree is better than a thousand months. The angels and the Spirit [i.e. Gabriel] descend therein by permission of their Lord for every matter. Peace it is until the emergence of dawn." [Quran: 97: 1-5]
