No it is not against the Bible. God expects humans to make the world a better place. He has clearly given up control of the Earth in matters such as this to the wisdom of man under His prayerful eye. God has given us the tools, the mind and the will to better our place in his Kingdom. When God sees that we are aware of a problem he expects us to solve that problem. When people needlessly die, God expects us to act. We did not reach this place in history without His help. We are here because of Him. He has furnished us with the knowledge, the tools and the inclination to better our world.
Many religious leaders hundreds of years ago forbade examination of the structure of our solar system, opening the skin and investigating the structure of our bodies and other scientific quests. Scientist were put on trial and killed for their work. However, these scientist were doing God's will and God's will moved forward.
Today, stem cell research will move forward. False prophets will condem the work, just as they have in the past. But God will use people to move his agenda forward despite these false prophets.

Never listen to a prophet that foretells doom when mankind is seeking a path to betterment of God's Kingdom.

Seems to me that research that involves the use of fertilized embryos is causing damage or even destruction to a human but there are forms of stem cell research that do not use embryos and I do not think God would disapprove of that. Stem cell can mean trying to find a way to use cells which have no identity to be used to replenish an organ that is diseased or injured.
Work is being done on mice to learn if stem cells can repair damaged nerves or pancreas that do not produce enough insulin. This field holds much promise to relieve pain and suffering. I hope they can perfect it before any of my family develop diabetes or have a spinal cord injury.

It is a clear case where advance in science cuts the foundation of religion.
since all major religions claim there is a God that created the universe and life on earth, once advances in stem cell reach a point where scientists can start "creating" or "modifying" life this puts scientists on the same level with "god".
That's one of the main hidden objections to Stem cells research

As a Christian I have no problem with Adult Stem Cell Research. I support it all the way and believe we should continue this type of
research to the max.

Embyonic stem cells are tiny people, complete with immortal human souls. No man has the right to mess with them, or to destroy them.

Research with other types of stem cells is no problem.

yes in some cases of where u have to perform organ transplants and grafts -skin and organ, it may be very helpful. esp for cancer or patients also. or to treat children inutero for genetic problems. if it helps u then its ok, but if it for other unnecessary purposes then its a no.

but there are quite ethical issues too.
1st man should not play God.
2nd sometimes man takes to extreme of cloning. (esp humans) not good.

3rd, when u take a single cell and culture it from an embryo, then it gives rise to a no;of cell lines. thus the authenticity and individuality of that embryo is lost.

4th would be, as u know most of these would usually be an auto transplant line so in that case they extract the parts of rudimentary liver in foetus inutero. in some cases it may damage the embryo totally.

5th, in most experiments of biotech and genetic engg, they use chick eggs and dont u think, that it is a little mean of us to kill another life to study something?

6th, adult cell lines proliferate very slowly and are at the end or half of their lives. the best most easily, less-faulty and rapidly proliferating stem cells are only obtained from an embryo. the adult stem cells are a little too complex to be cultured and maintained, but this has been used in grafting technique.
