In some Christian religions the drinking of alcohol is strictly forbidden. They believe the whole water into wine thing meant grape juice. So be it. If you are comfortable with your actions so be that to. he was wrong for telling you that you are going to hell. That is for God to decide and He will. BTW, what day was this beer on? There are some rules not practiced in the U.S. concerning Catholics that might say that your drinking was a venial sin requiring you to go to confession and perform an act of contrition before you can receive communion or go to heaven. Not all countries practice the same rules as say the Vatican does. It is not that I am saying you sinned, but I am saying you may not know you sinned. Ask a priest if when you drank it was okay to do so. As for the "Deacon", you will probably never have to deal with him in life so why worry about him sending you to hell. That too is a sin, taking the Lord's name in vane, pretending that he is God, and that he gets to make those decisions. Just thought you would like to know that. Enjoy and Peace.

People are always telling me I'm going to hell. Someone once even called me "Satan's Demonic Tool", which I took as a compliment.

If drinking beer is punishible by eternal damnation in lakes of fire, then I'm pretty much screwed.

Thinking about it, if I'm screwed anyway just for drinking a beer, what incentive is there for me not to just do whatever the hell I fell like doing for the rest of my life? Isn't the outcome going to be the same either way?

Just relax and remember, no matter how bad Hell is, it can't be worse than the number 29 bus on a Friday night.

I get told I'm going to hell all the time. ;-)

In Buddhism, everything is dependent on the mental motivation behind your actions. So, if you are out having fun and not hurting anybody that's fine (but maybe that's not the case ;-)

But almost certainly the guy criticizing has an impure motivation. Almost every religion warns about this type of action (judging others).

So, I guess what I'm saying is it's quite likely *he* is the one 'sinning' or creating a worse cause than you.

Ironic huh?

Hell, is the common grave of mankind. The Bible does not teach of Hell as being a burning place where persons are tortured forever. This is a false doctrine taught by many religions.
The Hebrew word for hell is "She'ohl" and the Greek word is "Hai'des"(Hades). Both words are translated correctly as the common grave of mankind.... not as a place of burning torment.

The very fact that "God is love" as 1 John 4:8 says, shows that God's dominant quality is love and that even the idea of tormenting people in a firey place is something detestable to Him! Jeremiah 32:35 speaks of some humans who actually sacrificed their children to false gods by putting them in fire, and it says about God that such a thing did not even come up into God's heart.

Revelation 20:14 speaks of a time in the future when there will be no more death because it says in that future time "Death and Hades were hurled into the lake of fire" . Yes it says there is a "lake of fire" but that is not a literal place, because if it were, how could "death" and "hades" be thrown into it? They are not "things" that fire can consume. What is being referred to as the lake of fire here symbolizes complete destruction, that is death and hades will be no more, it will be gone, no one will die and no one will have to be buried in the common grave.

About this future time, when death will be no more: Speaking of the resurrection Jesus promised of those who already have died on earth, Revelation 20:13 says: "The sea gave up those dead in it, and death and Hades gave up those dead in them". The hell mentioned in the Bible is not a place of eternal torment, rather it is simply the common grave and the Bible shows it will be emptied. As Jesus promised, "the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his [Jesus] voice and come out". (John 5:28,29) Millions of dead ones who are in God's memory (as John says they are in the "memorial tombs"), will be resurrected, brought back to life, on earth! (Luke 23:43; Acts 24:15)

So while many religions teach the false dreadful idea of a burning Hell, the God of love, the True God, Jehovah, teaches in the Bible, that those who die are simply not existing anymore (Ecclesiastes 9:5,6,10; Psalm 146:4)but those remembered by Him will be resurrected. The righteous ones as well as the resurrected ones who follow God's laws will enjoy a peaceful life, forever in a Paradise on earth! (Psalm 37:10,11, 29; Revelation 21:4)

As a Christian myself, I apologize for that behavior. Just don't hold the rantings of those who think they are Christians against the rest of us. There are freaks who run around saying they are Christians when they really don't know the first thing about what it means to be a Christian. There are also freaks running around who insist that they're Elvis or Superman, but it doesn't make them who they're claiming to be, if you catch my drift.

Anyway, I don't see how having a beer or two with your friends is going to get you a ticket to hell. There's nothing in the Bible about it. There is, however, something in the Bible about not judging others so you might want to remind your "Christian" friend about that one. ;-)

I don't think ur going to hell, but it doesn't matter what any human thinks seeing as how we were all born into sin(he who is without sin cast the first stone). The only person that has the right and dominion to judge anyone is God. So just tell him to put that in his pipe and smoke it!
