Why is that you don't dare approach a girl you secretly like? Who knows, she may like you, too. She's probably waiting for you to ask her out. I liked this guy I worked with for months and I was waiting for him to ask him out. Finally, one day, I couldn't wait any longer so I approached him and asked him out and he agreed. Later he revealed that he liked me the first time he saw me and thought I was pretty. Then I asked him, if he liked me, why didn't he ask me out? He told me he couldn't because he was too shy. So to the shy fellows, why don't you just ever go for it? So what if you get rejected, everybody does. It's not the end of the world.

You say, "so what if you get rejected", the same could apply to these girls supposedly waiting for the shy guy to ask them - why don't they ever just go for it???
Most shy people are shy for a reason. Constant rejection will do it. Why bother on the inifinitessimal chance that she is interested?

Let me answer this since I am a former shy guy. When a shy guy won't ask you out it is because he is afraid or or can't deal with rejection. Nothing more or nothing less. They are easily crushed when a woman rejects or spurns his advances.
Over time I have had to learn that rejection is a part of life. If I ask a woman out and she says no, then I accept it as her loss and not mine. She could be married, in a relationship or just not interested. Who knows? Whatever her reasons, when a woman turns you down for a date then what have you lost? You didn't have her then and you don't have her now.
Only time one should be devastated by rejection is when the last man or woman on the planet turns you down. Then you know right then and there that there is no hope for love.

put simply the same reason you did not just walk up to him and ask him out right away. Us shy guys are afraid of the whole rejection thing. if we are not certain she likes us we are not sure how much of a chance we have. It is a cowardly way to look at it, but hey to some of us you girls are intimidating :P I have no doubt missed out on alot of girls for being shy, but it is one of my failings, they could ask me out too, there is no law against it :P

I have my picture up on dating sites. You can see my pic on my 360 page. Girls never respond to me or write me. And the responses I do get are, "Sorry, but we definitely do not make a good match!" and it makes me feel awkward. So it actually makes me feel like I am right not to approach women otherwise i'll just feel worse everytime I'm rejected.

Yes, it is not the end of the world. But it is the end of my world. The combined sense of embarassment (why did I do that, in the first place?) and guilt (why did I do that when I could have done this?) has a lasting impact on male ego.
Shy? That goes with timid... and INSECURE!

well.... sometimes tha gurl it just 2 perfect 2 us that we dont want 2 shun u gurls out of tha lime light, and yeah.... sometimes regecting is hard when u really lyk tha gurl and their everything u dream bout then finally gather tha amount of courage 2 ask, well rejecting is just raelly hard, but 4 tha other kinds of shy guys out there just dont know how 2 appoach things depending on the gurl.

I wish us shy guys could meet more girls like you. When you're shy and obsessing about a girl it gets bigger and bigger in your head in this imaginary world and sort of gets out of control, so like the stakes are so high, you kind of get frozen in fear. Also, shyness is a form of self-obsession.
