Absolutely!
Of course, you can make it unhealthy by mostly eating low-carb "products" and crap. Crap is crap, whether it's low-carb, low-fat or whatever. But if you're eating mostly fresh, whole foods, lots of veggies, getting your water and exercise then your health will improve.
More and more studies are showing that excess carbohydrates are having a negative impact on our health.
Since going low-carb my carpal tunnel has gone away, my plantar fascitis has disappeared, and my aches and pains have faded. My hair and skin are healthier and I have more energy. And I know many people whose cholesterol and blood pressure have improved, blood-sugars normalized, and have been able to go off many of their medications (under their doctor's supervision). Many of them were recommended Atkins or other low-carb plans BY their doctors.

If the low carb diet is the South Beach Diet, I would say that it is the most healthy. I have several friends that are diabetic and they all told me that their doctors recommended the South Beach Diet. Since the diet was originally designed by a cardiologist for his patients, this makes me believe that it is healthy. I followed the diet because I had high cholesterol and my doctor was quite surprised at how my cholesterol improved.

Depending on your body type, different people digest food differently.
Fo example, people who has a sweet tooth, very likely cant digest carb well. And since they cant digest it, they'll crave & eat more of it. And end result, the carb pile onto their wasitline or result in unhealthy balance.
For some, low cab diet is the best. Others low protein works better. So for optimum health, find out what suits you best.

No, carbs have been a staple of the human diet for over 4,000+ years. Lowering the amount of carbs daily is healthy, but not full blown atkins style....
If our genetics have adapted to alcohol consumption, you damn well better believe it adapted to bread and carb consumption....
