I recently downloaded winrar.361 software to extract a rar file but it prompts me to enter password before extracting. The dialogue box does not even show forgot password button. Can anyone please help me. My other questions - is the problem with winrar or the file which I am trying to extract?

There is nothing wrong with the software winrar.361 nor does it requires any password for extracting files. It is the file that you are trying to extract requires the password. Go back to the web-site where you download the file and try to see if they have disclosed any password!

As mentioned earlier WinRar does not req. a password to un-rar it.

If it is asking for one it is not an official version and may be saturated with viruses/spyware/keyloggers...Go to the original site. I have linked it below

the file you are trying to extract has a password on it, not the program its self.... the easiest way to know what file your after just use the wizard and it will do it all for you
