If I'm told many different stories about the same event, I'm not likely to beleive any of them. And since pretty much all religions have their own views on creationism, moral conduct the afterlife etc., how can you say that any one is true? Seems to me that it all depends on what cultural lens you view it through and that there is no singular truth.

I think we would know that we are following the true religion once:

1-We know that all our questions have been answered and we feel that we do not have further questions.

2-When we feel that there is no contradiction between what God orders and what we feel is right & wrong as a human being

3- When we find inner peace and happiness in this life. Which helps us to lead a life of love, care and happiness. Which helps us to face the difficulties of this life with patience

and Islam has brought all the balance to the true believers who have studied it from the main sources Quran & Sunnah and implemented that in their lifes

The answer to your problem is a matter of faith. Naturally if you put all religions on an equal playing field, you will use personal opinion and feelings to judge the best one for you.

I suggest that this is similar to buying a used car. You find one that looks good and runs good, but if you don't check it out thoroughly it can leave you broken down at the side of the road.

If you look carefully at the world's religions, you will find that there is only one with a caring, personal God that loves His creation.

The gods from other world religions tend to severely judge humanity and demand a severe following, promising deliverance only after a life of dilligent service.

The God of the Bible promises a better life NOW!! You don't have to wait for the next life or crave the nothingness of nirvana. Being kind to your fellow human beings and loving your enemies is unique to Christianity.

As Christians, we are never promised to know everything or have the whole answer to everything. I am content with understanding life and the Bible as I have studied them.

Different stories?? I thought it sounded like the same story told differently by different people. The semantics are different - same story?? Doesn't make me believe the story - none have the whole answer. Let's take that cultural lens and say - individual lens we all view through. There is no singular truth - except your own?

as has been said for centuries

religious beliefs are mostly a matter of geography...not theology

by and large, most people believe what their parents told them is true....some read more, question more, expand their spiritual horizons
and become Agnostics
or Atheists
or Theists
or Deists
or Wiccans
or Buddhists
or...or...or...or...
all religions offer some good
and unfortunately, all religions have bad aspects too

most belief systems offer two critical things
a "civilized" moral code of behavior
and
a hedge against things that go "bump" in the night
especially death....

the rest of the religions' tenets are just so much window dressing

It seems that way but no one has all the answers and the reasons lots of people are still searching everywhere. In the end though we will know all truths. All religion will come together and be only one religion. Keep searching and the truth will prevail.

I have always believe that noone has it all the way right . religion should be about a idea not a belief. i dont think God or whoever you believe intended for the world to be so divided on the issue of religion . I think there are things that he intended us to do like be decent human beings and love one another and have faith .

I know of one person who thought exactly the same thing. but he knew that if God was good and just, then there had to be one true church. as suggested in the Bible, he prayed about it and got the answer that none of the were true, close but not quite. But through him the truth was restored.

I don't think it is safe to argue against any religion, most have the capacity to wage holy wars in the name of god/ess/s. You're gonna have wiccans turn up with wooden men, pagans with spells, muslims with machetes, christians with,... well, anything from the last 1000 years that can kill and of course, me. Be afraid, be VERY afraid!

Read your Bible and quote when you answer. Do not fail to check out the context, then you will be right,, maybe learn something and perhaps help someone.
