This section is RELIGION and Spirituality.
My religion is Secular Humanism. I admit I am not prone to being spiritual. I also admit to being an Atheist. Even though atheism is not a religion Secular Humanism is. Other atheistic religions could be(but not limited to) Buddism, Naturalist, Scientologists, ect...

What grounds do people have for saying all Atheists do not belong in this section?

Welcome to the "Rough Bunch" my friend. The door is always open and just like the grave , there is always room for one more ha ha.

Who gave you the idea you would not be welcome? Come on think, if this section was just full of YES people and the AMEN stuff it would be like a church and then maybe Yahoo would get the idea to pass the collection plate. Do not give Yahoo an idea, stay here and do stir up the waves and just enjoy like I do.

Oh by the way I am a "NO and I am here. At time by the answers I do get some seem to think I should not be but I just let it pass with a smile. Everyone is entitled to his/her own opinion and others should respect that. Sad to say that is not the rule here ha ha So just laugh it off and post another question to just enjoy the answers.

I do see Yahoo gave you a valid ID card and a free pass to every Q&A section in Yahoo Q&A so why not here. Let Yahoo decide who can and can not be here, they are the boss here ha ha. Its kinda like tha people at Yahoo are the LORDS in this Q&A cause they can bleep out, withdraw questions, and send out warnings OK. So just let them rule and forget those who don't want you here

As a Pure "NO" the only "NO" I know I say welcome aboard but get ready for the rough sailing ha ha.

I do have one suggestion my friend. Look up the word "religion" in the free Yahoo reference dicti0onary. It says anything persued with zeal is a religion for one definition. So is there anything that one does believe and/or persues not a religion. Just a thought OK.

I can not say what makes an "Atheists" not a Secular Humanism. I do not know enough about that section.

The Belief of NO God or Omnibeing is Atheist.

Yet, Buddhism does belief in a God, their god Buddha.
So the belief in God is defined by their religion, beliefs and practices. I wouldn't even call either Wicca or Druids (atheists) since they too believe in Gods and Goddess. All Divine Omni Beings can be considered God (in my book).

Now Christians believe that an Atheist is a non-believer in Christ as their God. Once again another fundamental belief of that religion. God defined.

Who are we to define God? Or even call the omni being by that name>

You belong where ever its best suited to serve the "higher good"
for yourself and the world that you effect. Best wishes.

A religion, at least in the traditional sense, implies a certain spiritual aspect...and by your definitions, atheism is just as much a religion as secular humanism....

Atheist belong here, as well as traditional "believers" and other "atheistic" belief systems.....
along with philosophers, agnostics, wiccans, Gaians

and even FSM and IPU believers....

This is for tiffany g, who posted above me:

If you look over my Q&A, you will find that not only am I an atheist, I am also very spiritual. Therefore, I most certainly do belong here. As does Upallnight.

Religion-Etymology
From Latin religere, "bind again", from prefix re-, again, + ligere, bind, + noun of action or process suffix -io (Wikitionary)
I understand religion as the act of reconnection
We to reconnect with God, the world and ourselves

Mainly christians have this problem I think. they always need to pick on someone. Once the atheist left, then they would go to work on some other group

They have no grounds at all....people fear what they can not understand...Christians can not understand why atheists don't believe in god its illogical to them so they would rather just pretend they don't exist all together...which is pretty ironic because their God says you should love everyone.

Everyone is welcome here. There are a few here that attempt to turn this forum into a place for specific religions. I do not believe that was Yahoo!'s intent. If it was they would have specific sections.

I am happy for you and welcome. Many athiests are like J. Witnesses and really try hard to convert others using methods that can be very pushy methods so just don't do that.
