I am not a guy but in my experience yes. They don't want to be taken care of because they feel like they can take care of themselves. They also might feel weak and it makes them feel stronger if they can hurt you back by pushing you away. I don't know if you mean they are physically hurt or emotionally hurt but what I have found is that girls usually like to take things head on when things aren't great. They want to talk about it and figure it out with their partner. And since most guys do not like showing emotion, they put up a front and close themselves off which only makes things worse. If it is a sick things, like they have the flu, guys usually becomes babies and want you to take care of them like you are their mom. That's why I think it is emotional because it's so hard to get them to open up and actually talk about their feelings. A guy who can the confidence to actually be open and honest with their girl is the kind of guy that, I think, every girl wants. Strong enough to be there for you but even stronger when they admit they need you as well.

Being sick is miserable. Some people don't want you around when they are miserable. He probably is afraid of what he might say or do in front of you or more to the point to you. It is nothing to worry about. You are not his nurse. You are his girlfriend. Perhaps he wants your love for own another to go unmarred by his outbursts. You may hurt a little now but imagine how you would feel if he said something spiteful out of pain and not because he meant it. How would you know the difference? You wouldn't. Just know some people do not share everything with one another. He won't give you his shame, his rage, or his dreams, but; he will give you his passion, his love, and his adoration if you let him.

It has always been said that you hurt the person you love the most. A lot of guys who are hurting feel like their ego is hurt as well if they come close to a girl(friend). Guys like to feel like they can fix things all on their own and make things right again. He probably feels that if he leans on you for support and love, it'll just make him feel weak and helpless. He's probably just pulling away from you because he wants to appear strong and capable of dealing with things on his own...

No way..I can do this.

Your boyfriend must be selfish. Why should one push the girl away, even if he is hurt or ill, Infact, he should be happy that there is one to look after him in such time
