I keep reading ?s on there about how bad the Army is here in Afghanistan. Killing children and woman? You generalize us as Army or Marines. Most of you know someone over there. Would you classify them as Babykillers? If so, maybe you need new friends. We are the politicians who sent us here, we are doing a military job not a political one. We leave that to the guys and gals in DC.

Are you kidding betrayedprince? I've been in more firefights than you have probably read books. You are watching to much television. I can honestly say I've never seen a noncombatant wounded or killed by US or NATO fire, artillary or aircraft here in Afghanistan. Now I have seen children that have been burned to death in a house by a Taliban RPG because the oldest son (13) refused to go fight for the Taliban. I've seen and help treat 48 children killed and injured when the Taliban bombed a school because they let girls go to school. I've seen whole villages with malnutrition to a point that would shame Sally Struthers because because the Taliban steal and extort everything they grow and own. How many times have you heard the work MEDCAP on your wonderful news network. It's us helping the local population from the things the Taliban have done over the years. Nope, we can't say anything good about the troops that wouldn't be objective news reporting. Come see for yourself or shut up.

Hey,
don't listen to any of the crap these armchair Generals are spewing back here.
I remember reading articles that my Dad sent me while I was serving in Beirut, Lebanon and just had to laugh at the garbage that was being written.
Don't forget - these are news people and they have some very slow news days so they need to try to spice things up a bit.
To all those who serve - Thank you, and keep up the good work. We are behind you and think of your commitment and service every day. I've been there and done that, so I know what it's like.

I think that most military men does as good as could been asked for. But if a fighter pilot bombs a building that the intelligence classifies as Al quida safe house but shows up to be a school house or a childrens home then that pilot, mistakely become a "childrenkiller" But that was newer his or hers intent. But media tends to blame the sword instead of the one that maked the error in the first place aka the intelligence! Who also tries to do a good jobb. So who to blame? Johan

As hard as it is to ignore the ignorant people blasting away at the efforts of you and those you serve with please know that the vast majority of Americans support you and your mission in Afghanistan. I have not been there...almost had a contractor job there. But I did recently return from 18 months working with the troops (primarily army) in Baghdad, Tikrit, Kirkuk, Taji and a few FOBs. I am planning on returning there ASAP.
Best wishes to you and the Marines you serve with. The prayers of a nation are with you.

No I do not believe that you guys over there are all bad. I know some that are there now, and some that just returned to head back in the future. Our Church prays for your safety every day. This is not joke. There are a lot of people in the US that are really appreciative of all the hard work that the military has and will do. I can only speak for myself, but it does take a lot of courage to do what you are doing. (If you are in the military) God Bless and keep safe. I salute you all. From Cosmo in N. California

Noone is attacking you guys over here! We're behind you 100%!!! We want you to get to come home and stop having to fight this senseless war! We want you to be properly equipped when you do have to go to war! We don't want you guys getting exposed to massive amounts of radiation!
I'm sure that you know all about this, but for everyone else, I've got two words...Depleted Uranium. We used over 2400 tons of it in Iraq this time. Look it up. It's nasty, and it is a WMD. Massive residual radiation lasting forever! The half-life on the stuff is 4.5 Billion years! Half life means that there will be half as much of the stuff in 4.5 billion years!!!! Meanwhile, anyone living anywhere in the middle east or to the western borders of India, down to Egypt....will die off. Over the course of the next few generations, and as these people get exposed to the airborne radioactive particles, these people now have a cancer rate 160 TIMES normal. Birth defects are skyrocketing...and I'm not talking cleft palate...these children are being born without mouths to eat or scream, enlarged heads, no heads, no brains, cyclops eye...really weird stuff. Uranium does not leave your body or your DNA ever! As they get re-exposed to greater and greater amounts, the entire poputlation of the area will die out. It's just going to happen. It's already done, and we can't undo it.
We, as a country, need to think about what we have just done. We need to think about it really freaking hard. We have just virtually ended an entire race of people. How many Jews did Hitler kill? 6 million? There are hundreds of millions of people in the affected area. They will all die. The radiation will effect all of them until they are generationally unable to give birth to a viable baby. And they will all be dead. HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS OF PEOPLE, DAMN IT!!! All for what? A few military bases and some oil...some oil that we don't have to need if use of the technology that is already out there makes oil obsolete. But the almighty Profit is appeased. And hundreds of millions will die for it.
Nice job, guys. Nice job. (not you military guys...the "leaders" that are in charge is who I'm talking about. You guys rock!)

No we are not that bad. I was over in Iraq for some time and as much as the media will talk about the civilian casualties, I don't think it happens as much as you'd think it does. Granted there will always be unnecessary casualties in war, but our soldiers are definately doing their best to prevent that. Everyone should be damn proud of the work that our men and women are still doing overseas, we can only pray that everyone will come home safely.

I am a 10 year veteran of the US Army. While I TOTALLY disagree with the military being there, it is the political agenda that I disagree with. My brothers and sisters in uniform will ALWAYS have my support.
Keep doing your job, keep to the UCMJ, and stay alive... You have family and friends here that need you.

No. Our troops aren't inhumane and would just kill women and children for the heck of it. Just think. If you're there, what would the atmosphere be like? Every corner, you think there's a terrorist waiting to blast your head off. So naturally, when you see someone, regerdless of him/her being a terrorist at first sight, you pull the trigger for fear of losing your own life.
Our troops do not intentionally kill women and children, rather, they fear for their own lives and start firing when they think they are under threat of being fired upon themselves. It's a kill or be killed environment...

No. I don't think our troops are bad. I think we are trying to do good. People die in war sometimes and that cannot be helped. But there are some instances of abuse and when found out about and investigated if evidence shows a crime was commited the accused are tried and punished.

As a fellow vet, take solace in the fact that the majority of our follow citizens are almost always wrong. Often, those who do not serve feel the need to belittle the service of others in order to maintain their egos. It is a sad fact that they are willing to put our lives on the line in order to feel better about themselves.
