Do have a problem or am I just gifted. I've been like this since I was little and noticed that I have an extremely long wake period....roughly 30+ hours of wake for every 8 hours of sleep....otherwise I just have to force myself to sleep. I can go 3 days easily before I start to fall asleep very easily. 2 days awake straight and I start to yawn and get tired like a normal person at the end of the day. A 1-2 hour nap will also suffice for an entire day if needed.
During said time, I can act just like any normal person. I'm always high enegry and happy even after days of no sleep...I work out in the gym, party, dance, talk to people, etc.
I don't have insomina becuase I can make myself go to sleep relatively easy every night. I"m just rarely tired though...
Far as diet and health; no drinking/drugs, Very rarely intake any caffeine or energy supplments, drink mucho water, usually a low calorie diet, I get ample physical activity(varries), I have ADD, good self-esteem.
Any ideas?

Thank you for the responses, now for details:
I take Adderall XR, however I'm like this with or without adderall and NEVER went to sleep easily so it was always like this. Easily as in tired, I get tired after an insane amount of physicaly activity or 30+ hours of being awake. My brother and dad are like me but not quite up to my energy level.
I did research into bi-polar, depression, etc. Closet thing to it is Hypomania, .....I'm generally very happy all the time....my "lows" are relatively brief and always self-inflicted(I failed a test)...I get told I look happy when I'm sad or dull.....I'm too happy if anything....
As far as diets: I"ve been on both sides of the track(bad & good health), so that doesn't effect anything from my observation.
I usually get 8+ hours of sleep a night, staying up all night is cool, but boring as hell.....so I do it very rarely....I just force my self asleep...
I do experience negative effects from being awake...my heart doesn't like it!

Dammit! I'm not bi-polar, possibly hypomania....but not bi-polar....The closet thing "crazy behavior" I have is risky behavior, ballsy attitude, and the occasional eccentric behavior/idea. I also NEVER lost control or went psycho....
Unless of course, consistency and mental calm are clear signs of bi-polar....

Its unusual but not abnormal in the sense of being a pathology.
Its a myth that the body "requires" sleep. It doesn't. A few examples exist of otherwise healthy people who, for reasons that are not understood, simply don't sleep at all.
Indeed, in the animal kingdom there are many species which never sleep and studies have demonstrated that there is no physiological differences can be observed between a sleeping subject and one that is awake but not exerting themselves.
Sleeplessness MAY be a symptom of certain abnormal conditions but when it is not a change from the individual's usual routine and is not associated with other symptoms it is harmless.

I am bipolar and you sound just like me when I was untreated and even now when I have a manic episode. Get to a mental health facility asap. If you are bipolar then it will only get worse. I was so sick by the time I got help that my life was devastated, very nearly destroyed completely. Don't put it off, trust me it's bigger than you are and it is about more than just not being able to sleep.

hmmmnnn! thats kind'a interesting! i wish i have the same gift, as i work graveyard shifts.
well, that is because your body is used to the process.
i have a few questions though? are you tall? does your skin glow?you know, sleep is the most important thing in life, thats beside breathing and eating.
it makes your skin healthy, your body nourished,
you may feel normal now, but when you grow old, you will notice the side effects of staying out late.
well, partying is okay, at least once a week, but not everyday.
as long as you have time for sleeping grab it! rest, rejuvenate! and you'll see the effect..

This got here approximately to me this twelve months too......my pup grow to be 14 years previous. She grow to be suffering lots and each so often i think chuffed that she's long gone to a greater advantageous place. You for sure prefer a dogs to love such as you enjoyed the final one, and according to probability in some months(or years) you would be waiting to undertake yet another. the main suitable delight would be in case you undertake one from the pound. only be attentive to that she's in a greater advantageous place and rather of crying over her dying, you may think of of the chuffed situations you spent mutually. Crying does help in spite of the indisputable fact that. positioned some photograph's of her around the dwelling house to maintain her reminiscence alive and with you perpetually

Possibly Bipolar...you don't have to experience depression to be Bipolar; a Bipolar I Disorder diagnosis required one or more Manic or Mixed episodes, usually (notice not "always") accompanied by Major Depressive Episodes. Not sleeping for 3 days straight sounds like a Manic Episode to me!

I have EXACTLY the same thing going on for myself although it's been attributed to insomnia. Thankfully, I've made good use of it- I'm an extreme workaholic and play just as hard. Highly rewarding, appreciate it and use it, for as long as you can.

You seem well grounded, and are wise and self loving enough to be concerned about your sleeping habits. I shall match your self respect by not even attempting to answer your question of gifted or not.
It seems to me the only variables from regularity you have stated are your diet, physical activity and ADD. These sure can be significant, but correct me if Im reading into your statement a bit by noticing they seem to be a tad underplayed as if almost unimportant and marginalized.
Also, I shall say intuitively by my own experience that perhaps you are a young man of almost undoubtedly oats-sewing age.
Due to being a financial imbecile and virtual invalid in such topics as real estate, rental agreements and so forth, paying credit card bills, school loans etc...I found myself homeless for roughly two months on the streets in LA.
Which in turn actually ruined my apetite to the point where I have to consciously remember to eat to this very day. That was a trauma to regularity for me. My body coped by writing off the pain of hunger. To this very day its still not even an instinct for me to eat, which I had taken for granted for the first 24 years of my life, my biological clock for nutrition is virtually gone now. I have virtually no apetite until Im starving, but I never let it get that far out of conscious decision.
I actually checked myself into a hospital during this time to get myself checked out in a sort of hypercondriac mode I was going through for a couple of years in my mid twenties. They told me I am bi-polar, ADHD, depressed and with schizo-typical traits after a simple multiple choice test and a 1/2 hour interview with a psychiatrist.
This guy's opinion of me after a quip conversation was actually put together as a diagnosis.
They started out prescribing me two medications which I lightly experimented with by prescribed dosage for about 2 weeks each before realizing they were going to eat my brain up or make me entirely dependant upon them eventually. While medicated I did actually suffer from a few horrendous mood swings which are kind of hard to describe other than a pointless generalized anger at virtually everything and everyone, and another oddessy of senseless guilt and fear over absolutely nothing.
It took me almost six months to disprove my disorders, the last of which was ADD(downgraded from the original ADHD) which I disproved with flying colors during a test conducted by UCLA students of psychology per my request to have an open reevaluation by a non-interested party in this case (second opinion perhaps in others).
Be careful when seeking help for whatever disorder you may be concerned you are suffering from, be wary that there is a whole industry out there that exists to cycle people in, classify, medicate, bill, and find alternative reasons to keep you in thier system rather than an actual recovery. Be sure you read over the right to privacy act before signing yourself to if you are concerned enough to sense a need for whatever sort of evaluation.
For the past 5 years I have been suffering from mild insomnia(when Im stressed its extremely difficult to fall asleep) and the rare occaisional panic attack (averaging 1per4 months at this time).
I have given up on seeking toward pollutting my body and altering my state of mind just to deal with one issue or another I may or may not mildly suffer from.
In my opinion every person is different and reality is no single person, Id wager, can so easily fit into well defined neat little packages. especially concerning state of mind or disorders.
Do your own homework and figure whats right for you.
Balance gain vs cost for the medications you will consider to take between the benefits vs the side effects.
Stay in control of your life.
Gifted? Surely you are.
But just remember that staying awake any longer than 48 hours or so can permanently damage your mind and put severe stress on certain synapses. You kinda sound like youre working yourself to an early annurism or something. So you might consider finding a way to exhaust yourself through exercise for example. and perhaps you should also save the energy drinks etc for 'emergency purposes only' (like when youve already been up for 38 hours already and need to be somewhere etc).

It's called mania. It's a secondary symptom/disorder to your ADD. You simply get manic. No problem there.

i think it could be a side effect from an ADD medication you could be taking. Do remember that they are supposed to surpress bousts of energy. So I'm saying that it could just be a "gift".
