With parents naming their kids with "different" names. I was wondering if there was a lot of making fun of. We just found out today that we are having another baby boy.
The name we chose for him is BINGHAM WINSTON KNIGHT.
Bingham is my maiden name. And Winston is my Dad's middle name. We would call him Bing for short.

Too weird or different ( Should I look for a different name) or do you think he will grow up fine. And he will not be made fun of because his name is different.

Thoughts??

Jennifer

I happen to like unusual names. but I tried to keep my kids names on the fringe of normal.....
kyle, kolt, torianna, and kentin,

I had a very normal name Nicole and I was made fun of horribly not because of my name simply because my parents were divorced and in the 80's we couldn't afford Jordash jeans. names are the least of a kids worries unless it is something that is really bad(by the have you looked at some last names that start a kid out on a bad foot to begin with..............where i grew up hussy was a common last name. I know someone with the last name virgin too)

I have a friend who is naming her son Blayze Rolla (insert her last name here) ______. Rolla is her great grandfather's name. I said "ok, that's a family name, great. But PLEASE give that kid a better first name." My boyfriend asked if she was a pothead when he heard that name. To tell you the truth it makes me think of a pothead. LOL That kid is gonna get soo much crap in school. Not as a young kid no, but when he gets older, oh yeah. I can hear it now "Hey (insert last name here) _______ wanna "Rolla" one and "Blayze" up?" I just can't figure out what goes on in some people's heads.

So Bingham Winston Knight is pretty tame. Although he'll get the "Bing cherries ha ha ha" thing a time or two, I'm sure he'll be fine. I myself go for more traditional names, especially since everyone steered away from them for so long. I have a Michael and a Jacob, I'll be adding an Isaac in January. Can't get any more traditional than that. LOL

It doesn't matter what you name your child. You can name your child John Smith and kids will find a way to make fun of the name. That is what they do. So, I say name that child whatever you feel is right. If that name is right to you then go for it. I think Bing as a nickname is adorable. Of course, it makes me think of Chandler Bing from Friends. :) But there is also Bing Crosby!

Im due in March. We should find out soon what we're having. If it is a boy we're simply going with Samuel. My other two are Joseph & Michael. So, we thought we'd stick with that trend of normal names. But we've picked a rather unusual name for a girl. So, we're not sharing it until she is born. It isn't totally off the wall but it is different.

I think we live in a time that no name is really that shocking anymore. I do not think it phases kids, it is just a name to them, not a definition of the person. If kids are going to pick on kids, they will find a reason, great name or not. Just remember, naming your child something different so they will be unique is silly- they are going to be unique even with thte most common name! Good Luck!

It really doesn't matter what you name your child- someone will find something to make fun of. Kid have a natural tendancy to find ways to tease others- particularly with words that rhyme with or make fun of their name. My daughter often complains of others calling her "banana" (they find a way to pair it with Kianna). I have told her names that kids used to call me (cone head, ice cream cone, ...- and that I was picked on because I had hairy arms). I told her that it used to hurt my feelings, but now does not matter- more important things to worry about. I also asked if she thought her best friends mother (our neighbor) would call me those names now and if she did what would that make her look like. My daughter will now tell kids who use her name wrong that they are being silly and she has better things to do. Bottom line is all kids are going to get teased, but as they get older it will not matter as much. As long as you are supportive and understanding with your child, he will be fine. On another note, I like the name.

Bing is kind of cool, and Knight, sounds like someone I wouldn't want to mess with, lol. Kids are cruel, and they will make fun of anything.
I'd say go for it, I think it's a neat name.

Kids will be Kids. Hell I have a plane old name, Ken and I was made fun of. and I know I made fun of others as well. As far as I know we all turned out fine, well there was John, but he was odd to begin with.

with all the different type of names due to different ethnicity's living together i don't think kids even notice "different " names. You are not naming him flower or apple or anything like that so I think it will be fine
