Great beaches & warm weather. Be very careful when eating from street vendors, some serve sewer rat meat as chicken. Avoid those if at all possible. A friend of mines worked there & told me about it.

It's Thailand, the people are Thai; it used to be Siam. I live here now. It's a wonderful place to visit. Always warm, the south around PHuket has Phi Phi Island and is so exotic. Bangkok is full of beautiful temples and amazing sights, the Thai are simply wonderful people.
Pattaya is sleazy and fun. Chiang Mai is cooler and a different atmosphere. Quite a place to visit and shop. Everything is very inexpensive and luxury or low costs hotels are everywhere.
Don't worry about the coup, it is over, and was a non-event to those of us here. You might get some good travels rates on travelocity now though.

Thailand, you mean? Big country, much to offer. Only a few destinations that are more popular than the rest - Bangkok, Pattaya, Phuket, Samui, Chiang Mai etc. Not expensive, exchange rate at US$1 to about 38 Bahts. Great for shopping (imitation products from CDs to branded stuff, local handicrafts), food and night life/entertainment are what Thailand is popular for. You first got to decide what you want to do (what your interests are), where to go and how much time have you got. Enjoy!

This is a very big question - - and there are a couple of silly answers above.. Whatever country you are from, if the same question had been asked - the answer might be difficult too.
Short answer is that it is a wonderful and unique country here. Thai people are extraordinary. They have a great sense of humor and smile alot. They often don't take life as seriously as people from the Western World do..
I think if you are more specific w/your question, you will get better answers..
