because he realizes how stupid he was for breaking up with her and is really in love with her and wants to spend the rest of his life with her. at least, that was my boyfriend's reason for getting back with me.

Few reasons.

1. He thought the grass was greener in the next yard and wanted to see what someone else was like.

2. He was with you for the wrong reasons - decided to leave - then wanted to go back just to say "I'm with someone" versus being alone.

3. Doesn't know what he wants. Unsure of himself. Not necessarily negative but then not too great either. Space is needed and much prayer.

I can't buy the "fear of committment thing". Men know what they want...and when they back off it's because they're contemplating if that's what they want or not.

Either way. Remember your worth.
Your worth isn't in his choices.

Perhaps the grass was greener in his own pasture and his ex was willing to give it another shot. Have you ever made a mistake? Changed your mind? Had Regrets? Maybe he let things that had nothing to do with Her interfere and end the relationship. Hell, my parents divorced and remarried when I was 4 and then stayed married until I was out of college. They still hang out together, but the divorce stuck this time.

1 reason could be that there were some circumstances in which he thought that breaking up with her would solve the problems. But then he realized that she's the one that actually makes things better for him and that there will be problems either way.

The other reason could be that after being with her, he realized that she was a much better person and thought that he wasn't up to her level so he decided to let her go. But then he asked her to come back to him because he wants to become a better person, for her, and get a better life with her.

Because the day when he broke up with her he was a man & when he back he was another man.
Life changes guys every single day. I sleep while I am thinking of something & I wake up thinking of something else. You can't control on your circumstances. We should understand that circumstances make the human, not the human makes the circumstances.

Here's a relatively simple answer:

He's too stupid to just buy a dog for the companionship he seeks and to stupid to bang the local skank in order to satisfy his physical needs.

End of story.

Because he still loves her. It all depends on why they broke up. maybe he screwed up somewhere and she is ready to take him back.

Because he knew he made a mistake and sees the importance of his gf. Sometimes, being apart makes us weight things.
