If you feel you MUST switch.. Try wine tastings, libraries, Sears (guys with tools are hot.... no pun intended). Make a list of things you like to do and find events that match... If you're into antiques, go to the flea market, or an antiques place.
I know how you feel.. I am into older men... so I have almost the same difficulties as you do. Good luck!!!

Go for it! There are younger men attracted to older women and if the two of you find each other and hit it off, then congratulations! OK, so maybe his mother won't be thrilled if you're only a few years younger than she is. If he's not a Mama's boy then it shouldn't matter what she thinks if he likes you. I've dated younger men, too, and the only problem is some of them want to have their own biological kids (adopting isn't "good enough" for them) and that could be a problem since, at 44, you're in a "high risk" category for pregnancy. But if he's not into having kids and more into having "fun," then I say go for it. My younger boyfriends have commented about how great it is to be with an older woman who is confident in herself and willing to admit that she likes sex!

Perhaps your best option at this time would be to enlist your friends to help. They know you and can be very honest in making suggestions on what to do or whom to try. If your friends do not feel they are up to it, you can try functions in areas you are interested in (i.e. church, sports teams (softball, ...), hobbies, ...). If that still does not seem to help you may wish to seek a local dating service.
As for your attraction to younger men, has that been because you desire the control your age gives you, because they had offered less of a possible long term commitment, or do to the vigor you felt young might offer vs. those of your age? Personally I think you should be able to honestly answer that to yourself before dating someone whom has the maturity a 40+ year old man should possess. Past attractions tend to be a topic of conversation at some point in time and they will be looking for an open and honest reply.

Funny I am seeing a girl your age and we met at a meeting place & not at a church! Although a church is a no.1 answer but if like me I am not a religious sort so join Jacyees or a Lioness Club and just have fun when the men & women have there dances! or go with a friend to a fundraiser if its a dance or a local C/w dance party!

no internet? I can understand that you can not really tell what the man is like on the internet, but there are ways of finding out things about a man you meet on the internet so that at least you can find out if he is a criminal or if he pays his bills?? I would give you my name and age but you said you do not want to meet any men from the internet.

See i am a 45 yrs old man. I am also attracted to younger girls as you are attracted to yonger boys. Its natural and normal. But i am having female friends of my own age too. Its not difficult to find people of any age any where. We have so many neighbours, they have their friends too, we have friends of our relativesYou can arrange a small party in your house and invite them. Gradually your chances to meet men of your age age will increase and you can select as many of them as you can
Thats how i started it.

sounds like you,ve been looking for love in all the wrong places it,s a hard question to answer not kowing your personal preferences other than the the ones in your question.my advice keep an open mind when meeting guys of your age ,be yourself ,and not someokne you think they ara looking for, be honest live one day at atime it will happen good luck

Join religious groups, join in their activities, go to church with them or any place that the group goes, you can find many decent unmarried men in those places.
