They are getting slaughtered, know how to play their medal rounds and dont understand team work. People who win wimbledon singles are not the ones who win the doubles trophy. The selection procedure is producing the wrong teams.

Loosen up and have fun.Americans are too much into the business aspect of golf and need to change that attitude to succeed in today's Ryder cup. It is about pride & participation.
US players need more match play & pairs events to get used to the format. Change the qualifying to have more captains picks so players whose games fit together can play together. Woods & Furyk are a good pair, Mickelson and Demarco are not. In fact Mickelson may be the second best medal player in the world but sucks at match play.
European players develop playing many match play & pairs events and know how to win at that format. Pairs events don't sell well on TV so that would be a challenge, where money is the major motivator. Let's restore the US Open tournament to Match play after the first two qualifying medal rounds.
Here's a suggestion some sponsor should Jump on. Create a weekly Monday golf league at spectacular golf courses (close to the previous weeks PGA tour event) where pairs compete in both fourball and fousome events(9 holes each). Surely the Golf channel would cover it. After each team has played 6 events out of 12 scheduled the 32 teams with the most points would compete in a $10,000,000 format something like this.
4 day event.
Day 1 36 hole elimination (18 hole foursomes 18 hole four ball). 16 teams advance.
18 holes Friday and Saturday with 8 teams advancing to Sunday. (two point for a win and 1 point for a tie).
Sunday the pairs split up and 4 groups of four play match play with each play getting two poins for each win (6 point max) and one point for each tie against each of the other three players.
The winner become the team with the most combined points on the week.

This will sting, but the Americans need to bench Woods and Mickelson in the Foursomes. These guys are great at playing there own games, but I don't expect Chris Dimarco to hit great shots from where Phil hits his tee shot. These guys have perfected their own games and it's completely different then the rest of teams style of play. I do think they should definitely be in the fourball matches though.

i think the Europeans think its an honor to play for the Ryder cup. i think the Americans look at it like another match to play. we as Americans have way to much ego. we are to much about our self's you don't see Americans cheering for other Americans in a regular golf tournament and the Europeans do, the Europeans enjoy the sport as a game and we as a business. I.E. they have fun and win and we don't

Conentrate on improving fourballs and foursomes. They always lose pace in that sort of game.

The addition of marijuana before each match would help.
