like abortion or gay marriage? I'll try to re-phrase my question.
It's not that I am political about abortion or gay rights, or any of those types of issues. It's just that Christians seem to think it is their job to make these decisions for others. However, they don't seem to see it as their job to prevent our government from committing immoral deeds across the globe.
If Jesus is, in fact, going to come back, and or, if you are going to be saved when you die, then I don't see the rationale for us to attack every country that doesn't fall in line with our world vision. If Jesus is coming back, then all of this killing and war is for nought, is it not?

Why would I want to involve religion into matters of state? Well you just helped me make my point. I wouldn't.
I think I'm saying that when we are electing people that are going to make decisions that will not only affect all Americans, but apparently the rest of the world as well, we need to think a little bit beyond abortion, homosexuality, etc, and we also need to cease thinking that we are God's police as far as the rest of the world is concerned.

PAT E, I have a major problem with your answer, we DIDN'T go to war with HITLER 4 years ago, and EVERYBODY knew that to be the case at that time.
We are not at war with Hitler now, but we are going to continue our ruinous policy.

I am a Christian and as far as I can remember no Christian has made it their "job" to make decisions for others. I have never seen someone forced to have an abortion, that is their decision. Nor have I seen one man forced to lie with another man for the purpose of sexual pleasure. People choose these things. That's why God gave us a brain, to reason and discern right from wrong.
Christians are human, they make mistakes, some go overboard on some issues..some as petty as which Bible is correct, King James or NIV. But what it all boils down to in the end is: Did you love God with all your heart and soul? Did you at least try your hardest to be Christ-like? Did you tell others about God and salvation?
I was taught to love the sinner, not the sin. Christian people from around the world have prayed for, listened to, and seen in horror the daily agony, death and destruction that occurs. I know one thing to be true, there is no IF Jesus is coming back, he IS coming back. Then all your questions will be answered. War is never the answer, but I will leave you with a thought..would you be here today if we hadn't gone to war with Hitler? Would YOU be part of his supreme race?

KSR,
"Do you avoid questions of consequence to the greater world in favor of issues? like abortion or gay marriage?"
NO. I merely get tired of answering the same questions over and over again.
"If Jesus is, in fact, going to come back, and or, if you are going to be saved when you die, then I don't see the rationale for us to attack every country that doesn't fall in line with our world vision. If Jesus is coming back, then all of this killing and war is for nought, is it not?"
It was all forseen by God. You have to have a good understanding of prophecy. As a Christian, I know that the events in the world, especially in the Middle East are not happening per chance, but rather God has forseen it, and has told us what to expect.
For example:
We got so near the message of the Antichrist when President Abbas, the Palentinian President recognized Israel's right to exist. I know that sounds backwards, but that is the message of the AntiChrist. A bow and no arrow, comes to make peace. We will not see the Antichrist until we see someone FROM THAT REGION, that is; the Seluciud Empire, make peace in the Middle East.
So these things that we find ourselves doing over there, they were going to happen anyway, God saw it. He's not telling us things that He made up, or some guy who called himself a prophet made up, these are actual foretellings of the future.

To a point you are right. How ever many believe in a separation of church and state. And if you really look at it is the politicians and only the politicians that are at war (from USA). Religion doesn’t have a say, and the people have already spoken, whether they realize it or not, by voting. From my stand point and my religion I know church officials come out and say this is what we “suggest”, from what we do from there is personal. But since we have such a separation from church and state (which is misinterpreted), although those that make decision might have a religious back ground; all these decisions are politically based. Whether for personal image or international gain, politics define our country’s decisions not religion. In-spite of a religious past.

So, we take no responsibility for the suffering of human beings? That is not what Jesus taught. Actually, that is not what most religions are founded on. We don't "attack" other nations to inflict pain, but to ease the suffering of oppressed people. Issues such as abortion and gay marriage are clearly defined as sin. You're combining three different issues, I think. We also don't sit around, resting on the assurance that we are going to Heaven and to Hell with the rest of the world... that's not how it works. The idea is to spread the Good News to as many as we are presented with. The Bible says that Jesus will not return until all have heard. Maybe I'm tired, but I cannot string your rationale into one issue.

How do you think we've attacked "EVERY country that doesn't fall in line with our world vision?"
As a Christian I would like our government to prevent the genocide in Sudan, the starvation in Somolia, the oppression of women in Saudi Arabia and Syria, the forced sterilization of women in rural China, the beheading of school children in Indonesia, the attacks on schools in Russia, the attacks on subways and commuter trains in Europe, .............
But, wait, we're American. So this must be all our fault. Other Governments can't possibly allow their own people to get educated, start businesses, and create wealth and prosperity for themselves as long as there is the evil empire of America causing all the problems (and being the perfect scapegoat for people, like you, who think everyone not white and American is a victim and incapable of progress).
Can we go back to something simple and of little consequence, now?

Why would you even want any religion, Christian or not, to prevent our government from doing things? There's supposed to be a seperation of church and state so that doesn't happen.
Even so, it is not a Christian's job to "make decisions for others". Their job is to lead what they feel is a "Christ-like" life in an example to others.
The problem is that society itself has become a realm where people think that everyone should believe exactly what they believe or else. I think it's sad that the very type of government that our forefathers died to escape from is the very type of government that we're creating again. People want government in every aspect of their lives, controlling what we do, see, hear, read, and buy.
The problem is not with Jesus or religion...the problem is within all of US.

O.k, lets say you see a blind man walking towards a cliff, you tell him "stop, your walking toward a cliff" but he ignores you, or tells you to mind your own business, do you try stop him or do you just let him go over? You see a little kid running in to the street, you don't see a car,by you know is dangerous, do you just let him run, or do you say "be-careful you could get hit" or do you stop him and say" be-careful you could get hit"? If you see some one who is at a school smoking, do you just let him and hope the children don't do it, or do you try to make rules and laws so that people like that can't come around schools? If you know that it is not right for a person to rape, murder, steal, threaten ones life, and hit some one else because they feel like it do you make laws to stop it? The Bible tells christian that we must do try to live godly lives, and do what we can to try to help others, because if we don't how will anyone know how to help there selves. The Bible says that we are to imetate God and that the govrnment officials have officials over them. When Jesus come back He will say to the faithful, Well done, you have shown my love to the world, and to the wicked you have done great evils in the world, when i was hungry you did not feed me and then the devil tempted you, you embraced him. You will never feel my love again.

Well i don't hold a position in office. All i can do is let another point of view be heard. I don't believe in abortion but i do believe in gay marriage. As for the world vision, let me give you another point of view. What about the people who do share the same vision but are killed or imprisoned if they admit to it. I am not saying this is every single case. How would you like to ask for help and no one lend you a hand.

Church and state really are seperated.
When I invoke martial law - my opinions will mean more.
I don't want to sound sarcastic, but there is not much influence of christians in politics, every time a bit is suspected, there is an equal uprising claiming Christians need to keep out of politics.
The way I see it. The media makes the political agenda of the country. feeding the masses whatever they can digest with a short attention span.

Your question goes over the heads of most of us and that's why you get what you get.
Most of the world has strayed so far away from God that they have forgotten altogether why God put us here in the first place.
We all started with God in the beginning and some of us listened to one who purported to know more than God and they bought it and caused us all the problems we are in now.
I think it would be nice if everybody just dropped all the religion and theologies and just went to loving and serving God the way we did before.><>
