I usually put butter on first, than peanut butter. That is the best, for some reason I think that it helps not stick to the roof of my mouth as much. Plus, pb is really dry, so the butter makes it better!

Butter -- preferably Irish butter, if I can get it.
And if I'm eating peanut butter on toast, I don't use regular butter or margarine. Peanut butter has no butter in it, but it has plenty of oil to, uh, grease the skids, as it were.

No I don't, I use either or on toast. However I was taught years ago that by putting butter on both peices of bread before making pb&j, would stop the peanut butter and jelly from soaking into the bread and making it soggy. I would do this when my son would take his lunch to school, so that his sandwich would stay as fresh as possible.

Butter is fine. Peanut butter on toast just doesn't do it for me. And peanut butter contains no more butter than apple butter. In those cases, it's just a generic name for a spread.

i always use butter/margarine on my toast with peanut butter...i think it makes it taste better. peanut butter does not have butter in it. it is only called a butter because it spreads...looks at the ingredient list and show your husband.

Peanutbutter does not contain butter. Peanuts, ground together, make a paste and that paste is referred to as peanutbutter. Peanuts contain peanut oil, thus mixing crushed peanuts with oil makes a paste.
I use Butter on toast. It simply tastes the best!
Good luck.
