I find this strange for I've own dogs and cats together before and have never seen this. My lab, if given the chance will go to the cat box and eat their sh*t. I'm not making this up. She eats regularly and has plenty of water. Whats up?

There is a name for what your lab is doing. This behavior is called coprophagia. What causes this is an attraction to the smell and taste of undigested food in the feces or a nutritional deficiency.

What you should try to do is change your pets diet as long as their not on a special diet. And move your cats litter box to a place where you Lab cannot get to it. Some pet stores do have supplements that will prevent this.

Some dogs do that. They are affectionately called "kitty crunchies"! Yum!. You need to put the box in a place she can't reach it. Some people put it in a biger box with a small hole only the cats can get into, or a closet with a cat door the dog can't get through. Another option that may or may not work depending on how stubborn your dog is, give the cats For-Bid. You can get it from your vet. It makes the cat poo taste bad (like it doesn't taste bad enough already!) so the dog won't want to eat it anymore. You should only have to do it for a few weeks to get her to stop doing it, if it works for her.

Gross yes but common I have a beagle/Basset mix who does this, there is nothing wrong with your dog. What we did was build a box around the cat litter box so only the cat can get in(of course you want to make it so it lifts off so you can change the litter). You will want to do something because the cat litter is not good for the dogs digestive system.

Your dog isn't sick (well, his behavior is a little off, but still not sick). Dogs do that - there is something he is after in the poop. You have a few options - one of those kitty-litter things that covers automatically, a spray that discourages dogs from getting too close, or there is stuff that can be added to the cat's food that will dissuade the dog. There ae dogs that eat other dog's crap. I had a dog that loved cow-pies - go figure!

dogs do this, there is something you can do to put in the litter box to stop him and there are also some kind of vitamins to give the dog. there is something called for-bid that you can get for the cat so the dog won't like the taste of the cats poo. or you can get a hooded litter box. he isn't sick though, just being a dumb dog.

It is normal. I have a black lab that does it all the time. My vet has told me that there is a mineral or something that the dog is attracted to. It will not hurt them at all. But it is kinda gross. I have recently bought one of those litter boxes that cleans itself right after the cat uses it. I cost me about 60 bucks but I love it.

You often see this in dogs. I have been told it is a lack of trace elements in their diet. Change the way you feed . A premium dry dog food only. Cost appears expensive initially but you save heaps in the long run. For a lab you would only feed it about a cup and a half of dry food morning and night other than that about 2 pound of raw beef bones once a week.

NORMAL!!! Don't worry, has nothing to do with nutrients, just the cats **** smells like meat to a dog.

Be carefull of the cat litter though, some are poisonous to dogs.

He was having a normal day then all of a sudden he started vomiting. Although the vomit is clear he is not eating. Its only been a couple of hours but all he is doing is laying down sleeping. Any advice before I go to the vet unnecessarily.

Labs will eat anything, literally. I don't think they are looking for any missing nutrient.
