Speaking as a long time muscle head I would say it sure is possible. In your late teens and early twenties your body is primed for growth naturally. I gained 50 pounds at boot camp in both my upper body and legs in just 9 weeks. Creatine works better than protien but combine the two and you can make awsome gains. I like EAS but it's kind of pricey for a young guy but if your serious about it like I was it's worth it. If your already at the gym I would hit the weights and not do just situps and pushups. Read some magazines get some ideas, I like the old muscle media mags but they are hard to find. Crazy as it seems some of my best exercises I got from Shape and Womens Fitness that my wife gets. Forget about looking like those guys in FLEX magazine unless you want to do hardcare growth drugs. While it is true that some small percentage of people can get super huge without drugs that percentage is minute.
Whatever you do have fun and alter your workout continually or else your body will adapt and growth will stop. Plus you will be bored to tears. I started at 22 and still lift hard at 46 and I love it. The older I get the more split I see between myself and my peers who worship the couch.

You really need a weight lifting regimen and heavy weights to put on mass. Everyone can do push ups and sit ups . Need your main lifts Military Press, Bench Press, Dead Lifts. 9-11 Reps for each lift 3 sets. Secondary lifts, Dips, Dumbell Curls, Skull Crushers, Barbell curls, Tricep kickbacks, lat pull downs Same reps and sets Get a good clean diet full of Lean meats and veggies. Lift 2-3 days a week with sufficiant rest in between. ( Most important part. Muscle doesnt grow in the gym. )

yes...any strength training and the added protein will help in weight gain....6 months is a good time so you can do that but some rec room gyms are free once a week so go check that out...try to add a lil leg training in there so you don't look top heavy

Yes it's possible. The protien shakes are like second to steroids. They'll really beef you up. My friend is HUGE in his upper body, and he hasn't been to a gym in years. If you look at his stomach there's fat, but if you look at his arms, theyr'e muscle and skin... literally. I'd say that he's probably telling the truth, but I'm no expert.

It is possible. 6 months 17 pounds with that intensity, sure. Depends on age also. But yeah push ups are really great, but the truth is that he could have gotten way bigger with some real weightlifting. Sit ups don't do much, just strengthen your abs.

Yes, it is possible. it takes practice and self-discipline, but the reward is great. The protein powder is very helpful too.

Muscle weighs more than fat! So if he gained weight, he gained muscle.
