Depends on what type of love you're talking about. If you're talking about eros (sexual love) or phileo (friendship love) then these are emotions. But if you're talking about agape (godly love) this is very much a choice. We are told to love (agape) our enemies. That is not something one can do from emotion. It is something we do by choice.

It can be both..and to varying degrees.

If you choice to do what is right for a person, redardless of how you feel emotionlaly, is tyhat love? Answer: Yes, it is.

If you love someone and choice to hurt them phyisicly or emotinaly out of anger, did you stop loving them while the emotion of anger took over? Answer: Was there ever real love there to begin with? True love is when one person desires only the best thing for the other. The ultimate love is to try to get someone into heaven. If one person becomes physically or even psychologically abusive toward the other I have serious doubts there ever was real love there to begin with. Maybe something physical, but has since become boring.

Is there differant types of love, differant levels, or do we confuse love as and or with emotions like joy, and happy? Answer: Absolutely there are different types and levels of love.

In the end, true love, of any of the types, is more of a choice than emotion. The "new" will wear off in a short while and the emotional "high" will go away. To cultivate and remain in love is a choice.

It starts as an emotion, but it takes a choice to stick with it after the passion cools off. In fact it might take continual choices day in and day out if you happen to fall for someone who turns out to not be very easy to love. You can only count on emotion just so far. If you start to feel like hurting yourself or your loved ones, it's time to not get carried away with expressing your emotions and use your choosing muscles so you can choose not to do something bad. Later, you'll be glad you made the right choice and you can enjoy a few minutes of positive emotions. Then it's back to making choices again.

Love is a state of the brain (not the mind) that has its origins in the brainstem, where the regulation of aversive/attactive emotions are formed (this is the part of the brain we share with... well... everything back to reptiles).

Just like all other things in the brain, love is a matter of intensity. How we react to that intensity, or lack thereof, is regulated by the frontal cortex where critical and conscious thought occurs.

Love is nothing more than an emergent behavior of the reptilian brain, which in mammals and avians is regulated by higher cranial functions.

Love is definitely a choice. Emotions are based on temporary factors, and change all the time. But when we love someone, we choose to see their spirit, which cannot be corrupted by temporary factors.

Love is an thoughts, no longer a call. you do not have a call who you'll fall in love with. the alternative you've is your movements and what are you going to do about it. Love isn't a chemical contained in the mind, you first have thoughts which then produces the feel reliable chemical. no longer any opposite direction round.
