Use some food coloring to make dilute primary color solutions and see what happens when you mix them.

Have fun, whatever you decide to do.

Aloha

We did this one in Kindergarten...
Buy several brands of Microwave popcorn
Pop according to directions.
Take pics of how they each look after popping
Have the fam taste test (blind) to see which one they like the best
Make a chart (graph) showing those results
Ta Dah!! A science experiement she'll love to get up and talk about.
Of course you can make this more difficult or easier if she's able to or you're not able to help.

You can do test the pH of the tea prepared in home from different brands and plot the graph showing the pH and the taste. For this you need to buy several packets of tea of different brands ond for pH measurement you can ttake the help of pH paper or a pH meter.

Some other project like set fire over ice/water. For this you need some calcium carbide and an ice tray. Over the ice in the tray put some pieces of calcium carbide and take a lighted match stick it will start burning over ice. Because the calcium carbide is hydrolysed to form calcium hydroxide and liberates acetelene gas which then burns. (Be careful in this experiment, before doing consult a chemistry teacher in the school for safety and precautions)

Charring of sugar: Take few crystals of sugar and put them in a beaker containing concentrated sulphuric acid. the sugar becomes black. Here the sugar which is composed of Carbon, Hydrogen and Oxygen, liberates water coming in contact with Concentrated H2SO4 which is a dehydrating agent (absorbes water). Becareful, concentrated Sulphuric acid may cause burning if fall over skin.

Change in colour of litmus paper: Put a few pieces of litmus paper in distilled water (neutral) pH = 7. Now add a few drops of an acid to the distilled water and see the colour of the litmus paper. then add a few drops of alkali to the same observe the colour change. You observe in acidic condition (addition of acid) the litmuspaper is red whereas in alkaline condition it is blue.

A clear plastic cup with a wet sponge inside. Use it to sprout a large seed such as corn, sunflower, or pinto bean. The sprouting plant will be visible through the cup.

Place a cat about 5 feet above a bed, paws facing up, and let it go, it flips itself back on its feet. (videotape it, sometimes depending on the cat, it might take a few trial runs.)

If you don't own a cat, ask a friend who does, it would be cruel to do that to a cat who was a total stranger.

She will get a kick out of it, and so will her class.

Or you could go with magnets.

G'day Nishar,

Thank you for your e-mail.

You could try mixing primary colours. This site has some other experiments.

Yahooligans lists some experiments although some are for older kids.

Put water into a small container. Gently lay a sewing needle lengthwise on top of the water.
It floats! ;)

Buy plants and "water" them with different liquids. For example, water, coffee and vinegar. Monitor the progress daily.
