My black lab loves to run. He jumps chain link fence and he broke through my wood privacy fence. I am at my wits end.

They work -- somewhat. If your dog is jumping fences and breaking through wood fences, chances are that the invisible fence won't work.

Best bet would be is to get a 6-foot wood fence (or chainlink), make sure your dog is neutered. Probably want to make sure that he gets a lot of exercise and socialization.

I had one of those invisible fences it only worked about 3/4 of the time. But if one of my dogs saw something it really wanted to go after, it would. Another bad thing about those types of "fences", it it intended to keep your dogs IN, but it will NOT keep anything OUT.

I no longer have this fence. I have a 5-ft chainlink and I have no problems with them jumping it.

Good luck.

I am not sure what the pricing is for an invisible fence but we have one on our farm and it keeps our collie in a limited area of the yard. We do have to shave a patch on her neck so that there is a good place for contact through all that fur. However it seems to work rather well, Lady has only escaped once when we did not shave the fur off in time and it grew in too long underneath.

i have a friend who had one (she lives in the country type area). i don't know if she still has it, but she had one that had a little communicator thing attached to her dog's collar. little signals are placed in the ground, and when the dog goes past a "fence-point" they will get a gentle zap from their collar, and will be discouraged from leaving. as far as i know, it worked pretty well..it seemed to break after a long time though; her dog would just randomly get out. and if the dog seriously wants out, the may gather up their strength and run through the zap. but they are a good way of letting your dog have freedom, but not too much, i guess. as for pricing, maybe look in your local phone book. the price may vary. good luck!

It depends on how stubborn the dog is, and how badly it wants what's on the other side. On the down side, they stop a dog returning home once it has escaped.

You might try a shock collar and watching the dog closely so you can tell it off as soon as it happens.

I got one for my dog last month and it really worked. Well it didn't cost me much. I just took my dog to a hypnotizer and this guy made it believe that there is actually a fence. Isn't it cool? :)

Will NOT keep anybody/anything OUT!!! Doesn't KEEP a detrminde dog *IN* !!!! Will NOT let the dog back IN!

YOU need a PEN! At LEAST 6 ft.-WITH A TOP!!! **BEFORE** the dog gets KILLED would be SMART,eh?
