If I understand your question correctly, you rejected a guy and broke his heart and now you feel badly about it. That is understandable. Most people have empathy for others and never want to hurt their feelings. You are showing respect for the person you are rejecting that is a good thing. However, you shouldn't feel guilty or sorry that you broke his heart. If he or she isn't your type then never force the issue by dating someone you have no feelings for.

Rejection and heartbreak is never painless. When you put your heart on the line, it will get hurt everytime. You just have to learn how to deal with pain, for it is only temporary. He will live another day and so will you. There will be other men and women to chase and be chased.

You just answered your own question. It DOES hurt to hurt someone else, otherwise you wouldn't feel terrible about it at all.
