I recently started dating this guy. I have just started my career and he is in grad school. He doesn't work and I would like to go out with him places. Got any ideas of what we can do with a limited budget? I don't mind paying for things, but I won't do it all the time. Plus I don't know if that will hurt his male ego.

When I was in college, we went to the park, the beach, and the zoo all the time. Having a picnic in the park is always fun.

I don't know what city that you live in, but in several cities that I have lived in they have a newspaper that comes in the mail called the Entertainer. If you don't get that, then check it out in the Sunday paper. They should have it. It will tell you what events are going on in your area and the cost. Also most movie theaters have cheap nights and matinees, the zoo has a cheap day, a nice picnic in the park, a afternoon in any of the major book stores and have coffee while enjoying a book or magazine, play card or board games at home. Cook dinner together. Go somewhere and just watch the sunset or the sunrise and have coffee ready made in a thermos. You can have a lot of fun with little or no money. Also don't forget several of the restaurants have coupons on line just go to their web site.
Have fun so many things to do. I hope that this helped you out.
God Bless

If both of you really like each other. Some ggod places are the zoo, rent a movie or two, a walk in the park or on a trail through the woods, taking walks through the neighborhood, bowling, roller blading, roller skating, ice skating, amusement parks, museums, art galleries, go dancing, camping, even a movie can be cheap if you don't buy all the goodies. About $20-$30 will cover most or all of these. Find out how he feels about who should pay for what in a relationship. The one that ask is the one that should pay is a rule to follow.

I think that some of the best dates are ones where you dont spend any money. Anyone can have fun if you are going out to the circus, but it takes real skill to be impressive without any real support. If you know a local hole in the wall place, you know, the kind with good food at unheard of prices, run by some mom and pop, thats a great place to start. I would go out to a park late at night, or the top of a building and look out at the city. If there is a natural spring around, thats another great place to go. Art museums are wonderful places, and they have student discount days. If you have an artsy, cultural district where you live, go out there and just walk around. Keep an eye on the local indy newspaper (i assume you have one). Often, I find good artists coming through small venues, or even playing in local bars, and its not bad to go get a beer and listen to a show, leave whenever you want with no committment, and walk around just talking, laughing and harassing the ducks by the duck pond for a while. Works for me.

you paying can hurt the male Ego. Low budget, go to the park at night, dinner and a movie at home, go for a walk at sunset. Have a picnic, Money will do the fancy stuff but if you know what each other like than do that you don't need money to go bike riding. Just look around.

There are lots of places to go during the day that are free or very inexpensive. I don't know where you live but I'm sure you can look stuff up on the Internet. Most cities and towns have local newspapers that have (especially on weekends) free and inexpensive stuff to do, very artsy and creative things. I always thought zoos were pretty cool (except for the captivity part). There are always fun things to do just think about it. Even taking walks together and talking about things to do is interesting.

Some cities have free museum days. Lots of wineries let you go wine tasting and sample their wines for free. Picnics, barbecues, hiking, flying a kite, a bonfire (roast marshmellows - make s'mores), go star gazing, bicycling, cook dinner together, fancy dinner in your own backyard with candles, table cloth, cloth napkins, etc., watch the sun set (or rise), stroll somewhere scenic.

Drive in movies are very cheap, and you can bring your own goodies so ya dont wind up paying $30 for 2 stale hot dogs and an 8 oz soda

Each week, you can pick a country you wish you had $$ to visit and then make dinner of that cuisine, dress the part, and play music that matches. You can keep a map of the places you've "dated."

Go to the museums, theatres will have free "industry nights," free outdoor concerts, etc.
