My dog is chipped and I wouldn't have it any other way. It just makes sense.. it's only 25 dollars around chicago to have your animal chipped, so why not? So I ask you....Are YOUR animals chipped? Are you thinking about chipping them? because you should!!!

My dogs and cats have all been chipped.
It has become law here for all dogs and cats be microchipped before they are sold. Which is all well and good for reputable places to do, but unfortunatley many back yarders wont do it.
Micro-chipping makes it so much easier to locate lost owners and ro guard against theft.
There was a story on TV a while back where a dog was found dumped, tied to a tree. He has been chipped and when the owner was located, it was found the dog had been stolen a few months before.
Yes, the chips can move, but nowhere near organs (as some will try and tell you). When a dog or cat is brought to a pound, the whole animal is scanned.

What they don't bother to tell you is that not only can the chips migrate possibly killing your animal, but they also don't always scan right and won't work if the conditions aren't just right. I watched a chipped dog on Animal Cops get scanned and because the paper work hadn't been done right, the dog couldn't be identified and so they ended up adopting her to somebody. The only thing I will ever do is tattoo-a-pet. They have a proper registry and it doesn't ware or come off. It's also visable so if somebody is thinking about stealing your dog they will think twice before doing it because of the tattoo.

Micro chipping is a great idea. The only problem is several companies are making the chips and scanners now. For example, let's say your dog has chip A, and gets loose and someone turns it into a shelter. If the shelter only has scanner B, then it wouldn't read your dog's chip. Make sense? If that were to happen, then who knows what would happen to the dog. Again, they are great ideas, you just run into the problem of different scanners.

My Black Lab Payton has been chipped since he was 8 weeks old. I am a firm believer of this. He got out of his kennel and about an hour later, I got a call from the pound telling me they found my dog. If it wasn't for that chip I might have never seen him again. He is a healthy and happy 7 month old now.

I got my pitbull chipped because I had to for the ban. I'd never really thought about it before that. Now, I also wouldn't have it any other way. Future dogs I own will also get the chip no matter what breed!

My cat is chipped, he's an indoor cat but does sneak outside once in a while. My dogs however, are not chipped. They are indoor dogs and only go out on a leash with me, we don't have a yard so i don't worry about them getting out and getting away. Sometimes I take them to the dog park and they can run around off leash, but the park is completely fenced in.

No. Once the stupid NAIS is in place all the information will be in a database. Over your pet limit? AC will be knocking on your door. Dog not S/N? AC will be knocking on your door (at least in some places). Late with your rabies shot? AC will be knocking on your door. Breed a litter? AC may be knocking on your door, AND maybe PeTA will be harassing you.

The whole NAIS thing is nothing but a scam anyway. Have your stockholders, who also just happened to be lobbyists and politicians, make it the LAW to use your product. MANY of the chips currently being used will then be obsolete, which means that MANY of you will have to rechip anyway.

NO WAY I am putting my dogs information in a national database. If it weren't for the AR lunatics and the overly controlling government, I would chip, but I guess tattoos will have to do.

Absolutely! I couldn't agree with you more! You wouldn't believe the circumstances where collars either come off or have been taken off, and animals have no way to be identified. Another point would be in case of an emergency, i.e. a tornado, flood, etc. I had a relative whose house caught fire and was separated from her well-trained dogs. I also work with someone who was seriously injured (broken neck) in a car accident. Her dog was in the car and got separated from her. Thinking ahead for your pet's safety is the best thing you can do for them.

Chips are a great thing! They saved our doggy and our wallet! Our dog is chipped through AVID and it only costs like $80. It saved us about $800 in unauthorized veterinary services. It also kept a woman from trying to steal our cute little puppy when she was about 8 wks. old.

sorry havent done it have VERY mixed feelings on the matter, while I do agree its a great idea they whole mess about chipping people next bothers me, & you know just because they dont tell you that they will chip you whos to say they wont start chipping new born babies at the hospital w/out consent...these things sound paranoid & unethical but honestly do you REALLY think our government tells us all & doesnt have a million plans to regulate & control their counry??? Im not knocking anyone for doing it Im just not ready to conform to this idea as of yet, now my pug & cat are liscensed & kitty is indoors only(doesnt want ot be out either) & my pug never leaves my side long enough to wander off orbe stolen, she doesnt even like to stay outside w/out me to potty so as of right now we're chip free but healthy & happy
