It will never "kill" you. The longer food stays in the freezer, the less nutritious it is. You also have to deal with freezer burn. Freezer burn is when your steak turns all frosty white. It makes it taste terrible. If frozen properly, I keep things in the freezer for up to 2 years. But under normal circumstances, I'll use it before 6 months.

I don't think any meat will kill you as long as it has been constantly frozen. When you defrost it, you'll usually be able to tell if it's freezer burned. You can eat it, but it'll taste horrible.
I've never heard of anyone dying from meat left in the freezer too long. If it was double packaged after you bought it, it will usually last over a year. If not, you can tell by looking at the meat in the freezer wrap (if it's clear) or open it if it's foil. If it looks dry, and has a lot of frost built up in the wrap, it's freezer burned and won't taste good at all. However, if you're starving to death, defrost it, season it well, cook it and eat it. You will live and your belly will be full.

I don't think you have to worry about it 'poisoning' you but if you keep meat too long in the freezer, it gets freezer burn.
Tastes like cow hide - has no flavor and was not worh you going to all the trouble of cooking.
Why buy meat and overstock your freezer.
Of course a sale is a sale, but don't go overboard on it.
You know your family and how many times you will cook that sort of meat.
I never freeze anything more than a week.
I live alone tho.
I do not thaw out something on the counter of the sink.
I take the meat out two days before i need to use it.
Plan when you are going to cook it, and work your plan.

Steak will keep 6 to 12 months in the freezer. Defrost the steak in the refrigerator, allowing 12 to 24 hours, depending on size. Cook as soon as possible after defrosting.

You can freeze meat forever as long as the meat was fresh when raw.
"Freezing Duration
Frozen meats can be safely frozen indefinitely as long as your freezer maintains a temperature of 0°F or lower. At this temperature, bacteria, yeasts, and molds are inactive (not destroyed). Freezing meat simply stops the clock when microbes are concerned. So, if a piece of meat is about to go bad when you freeze it, it's about to go bad when after you thaw it. It's best to freeze fresh meat shortly after purchase unless you plan on using it."

About a year. It needs to be properly wrapped to prevent freezer burn. Freezer burn won't kill you and probably no meat frozen longer will kill you, but it may not taste great and will be tough.

it doesn't kill you if you keep it in the freezer for a long time - it's just that the nutritional value decreases when food is frozen. it just won't be as nutritious for you.
