it's rather quick.

best way to put it, [it] acts "locally by irritating the gastric mucosa and centrally by stimulating the medullary chemoreceptor trigger zone to induce vomiting."

basically you puke it out. the cause of vomiting is removed, so you stop vomiting. so as long as it takes to vacate your stomach. by the way it is not a good thing to get into.

I've taken it before & it was the worst feeling I've ever had. I had this incredible urge to vomit for about 2 hours. It was very painful. When I finally did vomit, I didn't feel much better. I threw the bottle away. I can't even take the smell of it or I'll get violently ill. If you've ingested some poison go to the emergency room, b/c some poisons can cause more damage by being vomited. I'm not a doctor but I would not recommend it to anyone. Good Luck.

When you take ipecac, it will work almost immediately. So, be prepared and ready to throw up, standing by the toilet bowl. Why do you need to throw up? You should be careful about that, because you could get dehydrated. Ipecac is usually given to someone who has swallowed something poison or not good for them that could harm them. Also, if you're trying to throw up because of consuming something like charcoal lighter fluid, don't throw up. Eat burnt toast to absorb the lighter fluid, etc. It can burn your esophogas and cause hydrocarbon pneumonia. Hope this helped. deltadawn1769@sbcglobal.net
