Sadly, they're not. They genuinely believe this. Thankfully the only places that seem to believe this on the whole any more though is the middle east and the USA. Everyone else has pretty much moved on.

It has been thru ignorance and self indulgence that the word of God has been made into a fairtale.
It's a shame that the so-called men of God swindle people into believing their Dogma and swaying away from the Bible.
It's all about the Money. What a shame that the most beautiful book ever written has become a laughing item in the eyes of the secular world because of these swindlers.
In a way I don't blame them for ridiculing the Bible. So few christains have the Cajones to stand up and right the wrong that has been charged to the word of God.
People like Benny Hinn and others alike make a Mockery of the Bible. They use it for their own benefit,,MONEY!!
What a shame....

I don't expect you to believe anything, Tonto, and you're doing a damn fine job of it so far.
sincerely,
Satan
Ah, what's the use? I'm not Satan. I'm just some guy. The Bible is a traditional book that people use when they need to feel close to sacredness, either to get married or to welcome a child to the world or to bury their dead. Or to get freed from guilt when they know they've done something really bad. It has this really long history and people's ancestors have been buying into it for so long that they can't get out of it now, not without saying that their marriages are meaningless, their kids are unholy and all their ancestors are just rotting in the dirt. So that's why some people think it's so important. I wouldn't wish it on you, but some day you'll probably need a little sacredness, too, so don't burn your bridges.

In Judaism, G-d isn't a physical being, G-d's a spirit, a power. Yes, G-d does have super powers. You would have them too if you were all-powerful, but none of us are. The universe was created because of G-d's love for us. He wants us to experience the joy of living, and live it purposefully so that we can experience the joy of Heaven. No, it's not a big joke. To Baha'is, Christians, Jews, Muslims, Sikhs, Hindus, and almost every other religion, G-d is a definite being, however, all religions have defined G-d's attributes and characteristics differently. I understand that most atheists are naturalists, so when I say "...isn't a physical being...", you're going to take this as a joke. I understand that if you don't or can't see it, you'll have no reason to believe in it. I respect your position. With that being said, I believe in G-d because I feel his presence working in my life.

Toronto-
What is it you believe in? And in what bible did you find that there is an invisible person in the sky who is a magician and likes to stroke his ego???
I find that the people that make the most comments about Christianity know absolutely nothing about it.
That is the big JOKE.

Many logically-thinking people of profound intelligence and accomplishment apparently find all kinds of reasons (historical, scientific, and personal) to believe both in God and His Word. I have written extensively on this subject myself, but if your question is sincere and not just another troll for attention, may I direct you to the following books (and sites where you will find them):
*The Case for a Creator, The Case for Christ, *The Case for Faith (Lee Strobel)
*The New Evidence That Demands A Verdict Fully Updated To Answer The Questions Challenging Christians Today (Josh McDowell)

If you are genuinely a seeker for actual knowledge and not simply an arrogant or lazy mocker, you will not be disappointed or leave empty. These are extremely well-presented theses, some by people who began as people even more articulately agnostic than thou. :)

The religious experience is scientifically proven and occurs in every culture. So, god is just as real to them as the big bang is to others (personally I think there's more chance that a god exists than the universe blowing itself into existence). But I think the idea of the old man with a beard in the sky sitting on a throne is *extremely* funny, haha!!
PS. I agree with what you say about the bible, it pisses me off big time too. If god wrote that novel then he's an uneducated ignoramus for sure.

The bible not serious!?!? Why ... how dare you!?!? Just b/c god slaughters children and cripples? Elitist!
Exodus 11:5 And all the firstborn in the land of Egypt shall die, from the first born of Pharaoh that sitteth upon his throne, even unto the firstborn of the maidservant that is behind the mill; and all the firstborn of beasts.
11:6 And there shall be a great cry throughout all the land of Egypt, such as there was none like it, nor shall be like it any more.
11:7 But against any of the children of Israel shall not a dog move his tongue, against man or beast: that ye may know how that the LORD doth put a difference between the Egyptians and Israel

I find it easier to believe that all life was created by God, rather than believe that all the different life forms we see on earth started out as pond scum. What most scientist are now finding out, and more and more are admitting, is that the biggest joke that was played on us in the last 100 years or so was the Theory of Evolution.

My God is not invisible - I see Him in everything. My God is not bored - he was in my life before I was born is in my life now and will be in my life forever - so many people can honestly make that claim.
It requires faith, my dear. I lived without faith and I now live in faith and I can testify that the "joke" is believing you are better off without God than with Him.
God gave you free will, so I pray that this is not your final decision, but that you will consider whether you want to place your faith in the absence of God or in the ever-presence of God through His son, Jesus Christ.
