I think that you should let them date when they are comfortable with the other sex. I mean, I was asked out in 3rd grade but I am not going out until I am 16. I think it depends on your morals too. If it is something simple like a group date, try to let them go at like, 14. Or if they get asked to a dance sure. I mean, kids do need SOME freedom! (by the way, I'm 13)

Make sure they are dating for the right reasons. Ask your child why do they want to go on a date. Do they actually like the person or are they doing it just because all of their friends are dating.

Good question! Shows a positive parental involvement. The first step should probably be a general discussion about relationships and the stage by stage way you hope to handle it. Here are some possible steps:
a) after school functions
b) homework at one or other's home
c) school evening function w/ another couple
d) movie/"alone" date
Thanks for caring.

Age 16, before that they are not mature enough to handle boy/girl stuff. I know it sounds old fashioned but look around, I think kids are dating too young these days and the pregnancy rate is what we have to show for it

14-16 thats when teenagers begin to rebel against their parents. Im a teenager, and i can sometimes give my mom hell. Not on purpose but ive realized it. I had no clue dating someone could be so effective on your parents. But thats the best age to let them "have what they want". Make them feel like they get what they want. But in return, you MUST know what type of person they are seeing. If you dont like the person, dont be afraid to say no. They will understand EVENTUALLY.
Hope this helps.
