They say it takes a month of recovery for every year you were in the relationship. However, some people take it harder than others. Some take a year to get over a breakup, for a relationship that only lasted a month. It all depends on the person and how much they 'loved' the other person.

Sex and the City talks about.. it takes 1/2 the time you two went out to get over eachother.

You have a heart...you just haven't had it broken...yet.Who-ever told you it took two week's was a nut. They relay didn't have a broken one either. You never get over one...you just go past it.It just takes time to build up enough memories that it's on the bottom of the pile. That's the right answer.

It takes half the time you were dating the person. So if you dated for 6 months, it takes you 3 months to get over them.
Unless you find a rebound...that always speeds up the process.

Some research implies that it takes a third of the time you were with the person, to fully recover.
Therefore, if you are with the person for 3 years, it will take 1 year to fully get them out of your system.

it really just depends on the person, some people it only takes a few days, others weeks, months, even years. the best solution is to just stay busy, even date casually nothing serious, have fun do the things that you like to do and try not to dwell on the douchebag that you just broke up with

I would think that it is entirely up to the person with the broken heart. they can choose to live in pain or pick themselves up and get on with life

It took me TWO years to start feeling better. TO ME, (and this is very important), the one who broke my heart was THE love of my life. You must be young and young people seem to think different.
I was NEVER in love, as I was with the one who broke my heart, we were together for 8 years...
