I am 20 yrs old but I have a vanity problem. I give way too much importance to the way I look, my skin, my hair, my body.. I really take care of myself and it really shows also. Is this a problem? How do I get rid of this obsession?

There is nothing wrong with this obession. My mother-in-law is 68 this year and she is still vain. Thank goodness, she is age-appropriately vain. And since she is vain, she takes care of how she presents herself, through her look (hair body clothings) and her behaviours.

If you are aware that you give way too much attention to it, that's self-awareness & good sign that you start paying attention to other issues and other ways of overall self enhancing ... health & diet, mental and cognitive, social and interactive, etc etc.

Enjoy yourself ... be vain and love your looks ... improve it further and bring out the internal beauty ...

i'm not even planning on getting rid of it !

as long as you don't spend too much or splurge on it... then you're fine. we all want to grow old beautifully. you may control it for a time but you can't permanently. i've tried getting rid of my so called "vanity". the farthest i got was to spend less. it will always be a part of you. my grandma is sooo vain and she said she started very young. so i guess it's stuck with you forever. just don't make it a priority and don't sacrifice your health for it. you thought of having children, well i guess you're in the right track because someone who doesnt want children because they will look fat is really into vanity or someone who doesnt want to get operated because she will have a scar etc. my point is, there are things we shouldn't sacrifice for us to look good.

its not a problem unless you arent doing what you need to do otherwise, if you have a child believe me you will be unhappy with your looks and it may not go away, the best thing you could do is marry someone who loves the way you look and is willing to help you keep your looks up, and never have kids, just be the best you, you can be.

no, vanity is nothing more than a selfishness. its one thing to take care of yourself but quite another when it becomes an obsession that overrides daily things. just remember this, beauty fades but good character is forever.

It relies upon if my baby were to be a damage to human beings after myself. If my baby were to to easily kill me, no. I value my youngster's existence over my own. at the same time as jointly, I value my youngster's existence over a stranger's existence, i ought to no longer enable the youngster to do intentional damage to an innocuous, i'd ought to flow hostile to each and each fiber of my being and end my baby. i'm an atheist, i'm also a humanist. I value existence, my youngster's existence is of the utmost value to me. yet, if my youngster's purpose to kill innocuous human beings, i ought to no longer enable it happen. because there are issues extra important than my thoughts.
